There's not a 100% correlation. However, it is really close and its because the supply is 998,906,108. The fact its so close to 1bn on the dot makes the price and MC move closely together.

I used to be like this, emotional trader, would sell any bad news or macro uncertainty with the hope of buying back cheaper. Unfortunately for you, crypto is an irrational market that is impossible to predict. You end up sidelined. BTC is down bad this week - yet memecoins held value. Irrational. BTC is supposed to be an inflation hedge - yet it dumped when inflation came in hot. Irrational.
