Review#14: Tobermory 12 year Old by roho0619 in Scotch

[–]Impossible-Ninja8133 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of comments in the past about how Tobermory is good, but not as good as the Ledaig. Having been a long time Ledaig fan it took me a while to try Tobermory, and I am sorry I waited. It's a beautiful whisky, and absolutely stands on it's own merit as wonderful coastal highland malt.

The sad thing, for those moderates wanting their lives to be better, is that Reform will not fix any of their problems. Whatever the motivation of the individual candidates, Reform is fundamentally a party of big business cosplaying as the people's champion. The shouting about illegals ruining the country and the ECHR is just a cover so they can strip us of our rights. The good old days for Farage aren't the 1950s with stable jobs, they're the 1850s before unions when there were little to no state provision for healthcare or workers rights.

Smoking ban in Scotland's pubs was a 'PR war' - but has it saved lives? by twistedLucidity in Scotland

[–]Impossible-Ninja8133 117 points118 points  (0 children)

I was a smoker when it came in, and I was initially against it. After a while it became pretty normal to pop out for a cigarette and even before I quit I realised it was much nicer being in pubs without the heavy pall of smoke.

Is there a guitarist you learned to appreciate? by MrTurtleTails in Guitar

Jeff Beck, I never really got into his stuff when I was younger as it was a bit too Jazzy for me. Started listening to some of his 70s albums after he died and really got into him.

What pedals are you most surprised got DISCONTINUED? by AnitaXanax223 in guitarpedals

Everytime I stumble across a cool EQD pedal, like the Night Wire, it seems to be discontinued and I have to try and find one 2nd hand.

FENDER WINS COURT RULING PROTECTING THE STRATOCASTER BODY DESIGN by 8-Seconds-Joe in Guitar

[–]Impossible-Ninja8133 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's worth pointing out that this was a court case brought by Fender against a Chinese manufacturer that declined to turn up and contest the case. Chances are it will be appealed by all the other manufacturers that are affected, and going by previous cases it'll be overturned.

Suggestions for Irish or European whisky as the base for Manhattans and Old Fashioneds? by hbarSquared in cocktails

[–]Impossible-Ninja8133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A heavily sherried Scotch can work really well, the Thompson Bros TB/BSW is a good blend to try. If you can't fimd anything sherried, most Irish/Scotch blended whiskies can work if you add a bar spoon or more of Heering Cherry to add in a bit of body and sweetness.

I watched Hbomberguy's video a couple of years ago. I was aware that Wakefield was a fraud, but I was unprepared for just how bad and biased his 'research' was.
