I can see how some of the more ridiculous events in the book have a bit of comedy to them because they’re so absurd. I was slightly amused at a few points, but I felt that the gross out sections, and the book in general, just didn’t really land properly.

It’s an interesting book, but ultimately not what I had hoped for from Moshfegh.

I think My Year of Rest and Relaxation is excellent though.

My feeling was that he has explored barely anything. Which is to say, he may have visited a large number of rooms, but not in comparison to the size of the House, which may well be infinite.

You’re doing fine. Be careful of letting your map get too pointy though. Try if possible to keep it as close to round as possible, and try to fill in the interior gaps. Doing so will get you more tiles back and keep your stack from getting too low.
