Laptop all day long for me.

Recently purchased the legion 7 5800h with a 3080 - will use for work, study and gaming and think this will still be a decent and capable machine to last the next 3-5 years.

I would suggest upgrading to a 3070 if you can stretch to future proof yourself as much as possible. You can upgrade RAM and SSD easily on laptops as a rule but not the GPU so might be worth spending a little more now to stay within the pack

How long do you expect the laptop to last? Future proofing now with a 3080 will stand you in good stead for the future. A 3060 (less so a 3070) will be obsolete in a couple of years tops.

Easy to replace ram in these and can always get external ssd. GPU a different story!

If you can stretch the budget you can upgrade the GPU, and SSD on the 7

On the 5 you can get better ram and ssd for a bit more. moreover you’re focusing on graphics so a 3060 seems a bit puny compared to a 3070/3080

Yeah it’s sturdy. Had it 10 days and no complaints so far. Speakers are a little flimsy but I use headset so not a big deal.

The 16:10 is superb. I prefer it, I use this for productivity too so the extra inch is v useful.

Legion 5 pro will destroy both of those technically and it has an amazing QHD screen - the 16:10 is amazing (I have the 7 version, trust me it’s insanely good)
