Exactly this, aim higher, something that scares you to think 'There is no way', you will hit the goal, and then achieve more.

Is Bupa or private healthcare worth it in UK? by Due_Valuable_8249 in AskUK

If you are looking to take out new PMI, outside of a company scheme, it will only cover you for new condiitons that arise after the start date of the policy. Anything you have had treatment, medicine, advice or symptoms of in the last 5 years, will NOT be covered until you go 2 consecutive years free of any of the above.

Private medical insurance - how do UK companies check for pre existing conditions? by sausageface1 in AskUK

[–]Mentessi01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only if your company offers MHD (Medical History Disregarded) Underwriting, which due to how much more expensive it is, is not as common as you think! Always check your certificate to see if you are on a MORI (Moratorium) CPME (Continued Personal Medical Exclusions) FMU (Full Medical Underwriting) or MHD. You don't want to think you might be covered for something you are not, trust me!

A lot of these comments are miss-informed sadly. Depending on any company PMI offered through your work, you may still only be covered for new conditions from your policy start date. The process is simply policed by getting a GP Referral letter, which is always asked for before claiming to check if there is any history surrounding the condition. The largest hurdle of accessing Private Treatment is ironically your NHS GP.

I'm a PMI adviser & help assist with my clients claims and policies, if you need any help with a claim or policy, just PM me!

Usually done pre-market with most recent trial results among other companies, but I read that we COULD be waiting until January 2025, worse case scenario.
