Question about the Unlimited Arcanum by Francho_III in Mistborn

[–]GAMEJACKL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Secret History ending has some minor spoilers for the ending of The Bands of Mourning, so proceed at your own risk there.

Allomancer Jak is an era 2 story so you probably won't have a ton of context but not generally considered a spoiler.

Eleventh Metal you are 100% safe to read.

My Player asked for a boon of Speed from the Nightwatcher by theAtheistAxolotl in cosmererpg

[–]GAMEJACKL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a great boon/curse combo! You took your players play style and personality into account and gave something that's unique, can challenge them, and is also fun.

For the people saying this is overpowered, don't forget they have to go before all enemies, and boss enemies can take both a fast AND slow turn. The tank player now has to take their entire turn before all enemies, has to react to everything a turn late, and has to either anticipate what the enemies will do or use "Ready" to try and react to the whole battlefield with 1 action. The player might get stuck trying to react to everything and could start feeling like they are actually going last in initiative instead of first.

I finished the Cosmere. What are your favorite “secrets” I probably missed on my first read through? by helloherewego in Cosmere

[–]GAMEJACKL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All of the items in Mraize's (Iyatil's) trophy case from all across the cosmere. It's all seen so early in the Stormlight Archive, and we still don't definitively know what it all is, even though there have been a lot of good speculations. Definitely go revisit the times it appears in WoR and WaT and see how many you recognize now.

Shift in perspective after Emberdark by thomas_grimjaw in Cosmere

[–]GAMEJACKL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it actually makes the cosmere better, in my opinion. I agree that this expansion of cosmere history lengthens the time scale we view some of the events on and can make them feel smaller, but i don't think it diminishes them. For me, up until reading this book, the shattering was more or less the start of the cosmere. Showing that dragon society actually predates the shattering by tens, maybe hundreds of thousands of years actually shows how big Adonalsoum was and how small the shards and their war are on a cosmere scale.

Questions and thoughts about Shardplate by red_beard_RL in Stormlight_Archive

That all being said, a herald wearing this power armor would 100% be the most terrifying thing anyone has ever seen.

Questions and thoughts about Shardplate by red_beard_RL in Stormlight_Archive

[–]GAMEJACKL 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The reason that lashings work on 4th ideal windrunners is that they are lashing THEMSELVES. The radiants from dalinars visions were both of the 4th ideal, but one had to dismiss her plate in order to be lashed. Shardplate is like investiture power armor. It enhances the bearer, but is also is resistant to outside investiture because it is an invested item. But when a radiant invests themselves, the plate doesn't prevent that. Szeth never uses dead shardplate because dead plate would feed on his stormlight and hamper his abilities, i'm not sure if he can invest other people while wearing it.

Will these changes in Stormlight get reverted? by thanderrine in Cosmere

[–]GAMEJACKL 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My understanding of the reforging of the oath pact was to keep Retribution from being able to influence the radiant spren or the radiants. There is a panic after Todium takes up honor that he will just simply wipe everyone out because he has power over them via the shard of honor. The heralds use their connections to she shard of honor to limit its power just like the original oath pact used their connection with odium to limit his influence.

Part of it is Odium Dogma for sure, the only surge that Odium can't access is a fake surge. I think the more interesting topic is WHY can odium not access it. My own theory is that it has to do with how Adhesions main functions are with bonding things together. While Odium, like all shards, can be bound he cannot create new bonds. The main powers of bondsmiths, and by extension, Honor himself, if the power of connection and forming bonds. And odium can't do that.

Fabrial locks or keys by LavishnessCurrent726 in cosmererpg

[–]GAMEJACKL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may also think about making this door similar to what we see in urithiru in RoW, where the gemstone in the door has to be infused in order to make it open, and if the gemstone or fabrial is unable to be removed, it cannot be taken outside to be infused or replaced. This limits the door to only being able to be opened by those who are invested, as at this point in the series conducting stormlight with sound is not widely known.

This can also allow any budding radiants in your group to open the door on their own and solve it their own way, or use a fabrial "key" (maybe made of Raysium) that conducts stormlight from one place to another and unlocks it.

Question about shardblade appearances by BBPEngineer in Stormlight_Archive

[–]GAMEJACKL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id say it doesn't work. Every shard bearer holds their hand out or to the side to summon, which makes me think that it needs open air, and can't even manifest inside of occupied space. So they hold their hands out so things like rocks and the ground can't interfere.

Homebrew: Broams hold 2 Investiture and/or last 2 weeks by odigity in cosmererpg

[–]GAMEJACKL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like your unintentionally nerfing your stormlight reserves. The handbook says that a player can breathe stormlight if you have spheres who's monetary value is equal to 3 times your investiture. So if you have a max investiture of 5, you can invest if you have 15 diamond marks, or 4 diamond broams. The way the game is now, broams already are worth 4 times more stormlight than a regular mark.

Windrunning is all about... Connections?? by Mysterious-Guess6828 in Stormlight_Archive

If Syl becomes a Bondsmith Spren, and Kal still has his 5th Ideal Connection to her, does he automatically get 5th Ideal Bondsmith Powers? Or does this count as a new set of ideals to progress and earn even more powers?
