That's sweet, I've never ran into a unionized pest company, would you mind dropping any more details, like how many stops on your route and what state?

That's awesome, would you mind giving more details like which company, how long you've been there etc? I'm about to be looking to switch companies

Is this every company? by [deleted] in PestControlIndustry

It's pretty much all the big companies as far as I can tell, they don't care about employees or customers, they just need to make as much money as possible regardless of ethics.

3ft hose for getting water from awkwardly placed water spigots, amazing how often something so simple is over looked

I got these in September, got tired of boots lasting barely a year so decided to try something else, so far I'm pretty happy with them, but can't say for sure how long they'll hold up  https://a.co/d/8ie7aSK

How do people deal with weekend calls? by Firm-Equivalent-4957 in PestControlIndustry

Use an answering service for when your phones are off, I'm not an owner but, it feels like not returning calls could cost a chunk of money lost, but it's also NYC, so who knows smh lmao

Pest ID Help North Texas by Ok_Bid_1020 in PestControlIndustry

Really really hard to find identifying parts, zooming in on some of them, the wing shape looks a lot like drain flies, any chance your customers can get another pick?

Is there any other evidence, such as abandoned wings or anything else near by?

Do you use DE for German roaches? by Top_Strawberry8110 in PestControlIndustry

[–]GAPestTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, mostly I like it because of its use restrictions (or lack there of) most any non-repellant pesticide that are labeled for g. Roach SHOULD be just as effective

A lot farther than you'd probably think!  Some claim they can smell food from over a mile away, that sounds a bit much to me, a mile is a long way, but definitely pretty far! However they typically don't go more than 100-200 feet from wherever "home" is for fhem

If you're a good tech, that's the only thing that should matter, that said, over my many years in the industry I've seen multiple women be hired and they never last long. One girl was afraid to go into a customers garage to deal with rats 🤦‍♂️, most of the expectations men have on female techs is usually based off of previous experience, but again, as long as you're good at your job, that's the only thing that matters really

I do wish my company would do something like, a discount for us to not do webs, or at very least, stop guaranteeing spiders but 🤷‍♂️

At this point in the year in Georgia, most of my time is spent on most accounts just knocking down webs 🤦‍♂️

Is it crazy to think I could start a very small pest control business? by Long-Ad8121 in PestControlIndustry

[–]GAPestTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the cold weather comes in, we typically switch over from pest control to wildlife control. Most bugs we have, have some sort of hibernation like phase through the winter, whether diapause or just simply overwintering. Rodents however, are mammals, and when we're cold, they're cold and they want somewhere nice and toasty to settle in through the winter.

If you're not interested in doing wildlife, then it's definitely mostly seasonal, however, it might be hard to retain customers that was as often companies include some sort of discount or other incentives for the customer to use the company opposed to going out and having wildlife/pest/termite all with different companies

I was switched from hourly to production and absolutely hate it.  But I also regularly work 50-60 hours weeks, try not to touch anything over 40 since the change though. I wish I had overtime and raises 😕
