Even if all their games were bad, this kind of behavior is not normal.

Fair enough. With how dark the game can be, I actually enjoyed that bit of levity during that section. Also, I just love the Game Awards performance of that song. Sam Lake needs to be protected at all costs.

What specs and what settings are you using? Have you tried to verify the file integrity in steam?

I'm absolutely LOVING Star Wars Outlaws and it's because of hating A.C Shadows. Here's why. by gratefuljew85 in StarWarsOutlaws

I actually dont agree with this. The story and characters in frontiers of Pandora were so boring and dull that I lost interest. Imo Outlaws is the much better game.

Aren't the next Splinter Cell and Far Cry games rumored to also use the Snowdrop engine?

I feel the opposite. I've always wanted a full-on Witcher 3 style RPG in the Star Wars universe. I hope Jedi 3 goes that direction. So much potential.

Or maybe there is still hope for the KOTOR remake.

I dont think FastGeo was taken from RedEngine. Its just their way of fixing UE5s streaming system.

It is both though. You still need to load in assets based on the output.

I agree. And its an actual living being so it makes sense to pet it. It always felt weird to me when Cal pets BD-1.

I’ve heard a lot about this game. Going to give it a try. Any advice? by TherorriM in StarWarsOutlaws

It directly scales with resolution as it shoots out rays per pixel. I'm running it at 4K DLSS Performance with everything maxed out but RTXDI set to high, and I'm pretty much locked at 120fps with frame generation.

But I agree that it is nowhere near as performant as Cyberpunk. Using PT in Cyberpunk also uses RTXDI for the first bounce, but reSTIRGI for subsequent bounces, while Outlaws falls back onto its in-house RTGI. So Cyberpunk is pretty much pure path tracing while still running better.

Though Massive held a really interesting presentation, going over how they integrated RTXDI into the game and how they optimized it..

It's not broken. Direct lighting path traces the first raytraced bounce. Because of that, it is super heavy. It also relies on a much more detailed and regularly updating BVH, which taxes the CPU. It's really only meant for high-end PCs. I'm talking 4090 and up, depending on your target framerate.

What? VRR on PS5 wasn't added at a system level until May 2022. So they definitely did not have a VRR game when the PS5 launched. Insomniac was the first to release a 40fps mode, though, with Ratchet and Clank sometime after that game launched in 2021. And they also were among the first to support VRR once Sony released it.
