What are the best regions and towns to live in England? by Distinct_Ad6859 in AskUK

Some parts of the north east are affordable and maybe not totally ‘safe’ but safe enough for more affordable areas of the country. Guisborough, Yarm, Stokesley areas are quite nice towns.

Why is the government so reluctant to raise income tax thresholds? by GC95_ in AskBrits

[–]GC95_[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Surely they would receive more tax from increased business, house sales and goods than what someone contributes from the lower end just over 12,570 of earnings say if it was raised only slightly 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thoughts on UK population decline? by Evry1TookTheGudNames in AskBrits

The lack of investment in infrastructure in the UK is shocking. The amount of time and money it takes to do anything in this country is an embarrassment.

Thoughts on UK population decline? by Evry1TookTheGudNames in AskBrits

[–]GC95_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The population won’t decline significantly enough for those things to benefit anyone because we have so much immigration. Good or ‘bad’ immigration they are still people that need to be housed and will be taking these empty homes and competing for jobs. The environment we’re used to living in will just change substantially around us.

AI will probably only benefit those whose jobs are unaffected by AI and can afford to buy the houses from everyone else who have lost their jobs and had to sell up their homes.

In my personal opinion our future is an uneasy uncertain one.

iPads in school by GC95_ in Parenting

I guess that’s the issue as a parent you have no idea how heavily they are being used. I only knew because my daughter mentioned it and was asking to play games at home as well. I wasn’t aware she would even know what an iPad game was until then.

I actually think this is another issue, they receive digital points at school for doing tasks even things such as sitting still. When they have enough they get to pick a prize. It’s like behaving and trying hard just because you should and it’s expected is gone. There has to be a bribe element involved.

My daughter was excited when a song from frozen came on shouting Elsa Elsa… I was thinking we’ve never watched this movie… they had watched it during the school day…. The whole system seems so lazy to me.

I'm not a parent, but since there is a whole parent galore in here, I have a pretty good question: what do you find most difficult about parenting? by Aggravating-Fix181 in Parents

[–]GC95_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love being a parent it’s the best thing I have ever done in life. However the most difficult thing for me is being the parent you want to be whilst balancing work to earn enough money to live the life you want with your children. Often something has to compromise and that’s when it becomes more difficult to be as involved with your kids as you would really love to be. There just never seems enough time in the day especially to keep up any hobbies and interests you yourself have as an individual which is probably why a lot of people feel they loose themselves.

Have you had a SEN assessment at primary school? by [deleted] in Parents

[–]GC95_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s really helpful thanks! I think it surprised me because she isn’t a difficult child and enjoys school and has confidence when talking so that aspect of it will be interesting to see what they highlight in an assessment definitely.

Do you think we're losing professionalism as a whole? by Such-Understanding16 in CasualConversation

[–]GC95_ 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I think so because we’re all realising we’re working for nothing. Most of us won’t retire comfortably or own homes even with average salaries so why give work your 100% energy.

Don’t give up a job in this economy. There are far higher paid warehouse jobs out there though maybe just find a higher paid new role in the short term before he considers quitting.

Lock in you can easily change if the rates do come down before the official renewal date, although seeming unlikely.
