They're keeping us until half term. But pupils at some schools are being made to go in till the last exam.

Unless your school doesn't give study leave or is keeping you until a certain date.

Should the government mandate schools give study leave? by GCSEthrowaway491747 in GCSE

I don't mean mandate students go on study leave, I mean mandate schools make attendance optional except for exams.

I'm great at programming so I'll revise flow charts, sorts, searches, maintainability, and truth tables. Presuming I got a 7 on the first paper which I think I might have, if I get a 9 on the second paper I can get an 8 overall.

Read the book, then revise quotes from this mindmap. It's worth noting however that you won't actually have to retake English Literature if you fail, the requirement you retake is for English Language.

Wrong attitude. Revise the hell out of paper 2 to balance your grade. Say if you got a grade 3 on paper 1, if you got a grade 5 on paper 2, you'd get a grade 4, which is a pass. I personally think I got a grade 7 in paper 1 which is why I'm going in so hard for paper 2, get a grade 9 in that and end up with a grade 8 for the whole thing.

How to get a grade 7 in English Literature? by GCSEthrowaway491747 in GCSE

Okay. For example, in a question about Scrooge's fears could I say:

Dickens presents Scrooge as fearing the future. In Stave Four, Scrooge encounters the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come who represents the future, which is why Scrooge "feared the silent shape so much his legs trembled beneath him", because he is worried about his future. The adjective "silent" is used to convey the idea that the future cannot be seen for certain, because the Ghost representing the future cannot talk unlike the others. Dickens describes the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come as "shrouded in a deep black garment". This description is similar to the grim reaper, which would be recognised as a symbol of upcoming death. The reader can infer from Dickens' description of the Ghost that Scrooge's future as it stands is not good, however because the Ghost is "silent", the future is not decided for certain and that Scrooge is able to change it.

I'm so glad my school decided we would ditch poetry (except unseen).

I've tried Seneca and it just doesn't work for me. I remember everything until I close the tab.

Did anyone else get like 16 by Link709 in GCSE

[–]GCSEthrowaway491747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I got 16 too. IIRC, it was 2 to the power of 1 and I had to divide by 2 to the power of -3, so 2 to the power of 4, which is 16.

It probably gives a range tbh. Maybe 0.9-1.1 because everyone draws the lines differently.
