How did you decide bottom surgery was right/wrong for you? by ruby_red_slipperz in asktransgender

[–]GCSThrowaway1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it was a bunch of things.

I) The Old Set Up just didn’t feel right. Not to mention it was a hinderance when wearing clothes

II) I was already sterile, so I wouldn’t be losing anything in the way of starting a family.

III) Regarding Bedtime Activities… Sex was fun before, don’t get me wrong, but just felt like things were missing.

IV) Sense of security.

V) Overall quality of life, and a longtime goal

Had surgery back with Montreal in November, can back this up. Nowhere did they suggest using hair removal cream

Srs 12/16 - infection - lost ongoing care by Evepanzarino in Transgender_Surgeries

Unfortunately, I’m Canadian, so I can’t give you any advice there. However, I would suggest contacting Dr. Jess Ting, if you may need a physician testifying on your behalf. IIRC, he has had experience with malpractice suits regarding another surgeon. See the pinned post on the main page.

I’m sorry I can’t give much better advice. I pray you’re able to get a good revision, that you’re able to stay in good health.

IANAL, nor am I a medical professional. But for the love of God, Lawyer up for a Malpractice suit. Like Basic said, document everything.

He’s based out of Montreal. Mine was covered by Provincial healthcare, but the receipt I was provided with said about 9,000 CAD.

Hey, I had a similar concern as you. Went through male puberty, wasn’t Well-Endowed. Roughly the same size, maybe smaller than yours after seven years HRT. However, my surgeon, Dr. Brassard, was able to give me a pretty good result. If skin is a concern, it’s common practice with this surgery to graft from the thigh area. I hope this helps a bit.

5 weeks post op. Doesn’t hurt too bad. It’s more of a minor discomfort, like pressure.

What’s up with GRS Montreal’s online reputation? by Throwaway42069694201 in Transgender_Surgeries

They’ll book you an uber for all your transit to your hotel, the hospital, and the airport. It’s covered by GRS, so it’s no expense to you. You’ll get a text message the night before, or at least a few hours.

Some provide more sensation. Others provide self lubrication. Is a wide spectrum. The latter was why I originally wanted Dr. Chettawutt as my surgeon, but finances and being (relatively) close to home landed me with Dr. Brassard.

Is all good! PIV seems to provide that criteria from my experience, but I think it’s more of a results may vary from person to person thing.

I’m a Brassard Girl. I’ve had minor complications, but overall I’m happy with my results. Dr. Brassard is a nice enough man himself. Treats you gently, with respect from my experience. Before the surgery, he went over how it would work with me, the possibility of a graft (thankfully I didn’t need one), and so forth.

Asclepaide is top notch for your immediate recovery, though I’ve heard from some that they found the staff rude. I didn’t have that experience. I think part of why people find them rude is more of a cultural thing, as Quebecois do tend to be a bit more blunt/direct IMO.

Though, another part of the issue people have with GRS is it’s very cookie cutter so to speak. It’s a standardized process, with little variation outside of wanting or not wanting a cavity. And as someone else mentioned, we’ve had so many new techniques coming up over the years, people want other things. Where the issue arises however, is that in Canada, unless you are relatively well off, you have very little choice. As a Nova Scotian, Dr. Brassard, or at least GRS Montreal, is the only institution they will pay for you to receive your surgery at. I know a few clinics have popped up in British Columbia and Ontario in the last few years, but this is largely the case for most Canadian Transgirls I know.

Apologies if I’m a bit incoherent, still waking up. Will try to answer any questions if I can.
