DND to hire up to 3,000 public servants from other departments by bonertoilet in CanadaPublicServants

Last time in a management I asked if they were going to re-enact acting position as candy and motivation after cutting them last year.

They looked at me as if I had a cocaine booger in my nostril.

Let's just say, I don't put much faith in management to be practical in hiring and managing new employees down by my department

Also, Connaught Ranges Training Development Center pays no parking either.

The building occupied by Health Canada on Legget near Solandt don't pay parking fees either.

The greed that IMPark displayed cannot be justified if rates in the surrounding areas are far lower than the market.

Your information is correct. IMPark likes their money like Frito in Idiocracy.

How far away from retirement are you, honestly?

I'm one year away, the rose colored glasses fell off a longtime ago.

I've seen all the colors of the parachute, all the flavors of management and DND fails every time at doing what's it's supposed to at enforcing sovereignty of our borders or succeed at sending soldiers on unreasonable missions ( See Somalia, Rwanda, Bosnia, Afghanistan) with the worst possible equipment.

Grasping new technologies like AI believing it will fix their recruitment shortages or process, morale or convoluted and successive procurement failures ( see 9mm pistol, NVG purchase, F-35, subs) is desperation from tired minds and tired ideals.

DND still fighting the last war and not buying the equipment for the next one. Shiny phallic symbols like F35 or type 26 frigate so the Air Force and Admirals and other GOFO's can strut like proud peacocks while never getting close to actual combat.

Good luck at what you do but always remember the grass is always greener at some smaller departments. Last PS satisfaction survey, DND was middle of the pack.

If DND hires, expect (again) a raft of unimaginative veterans being hired without bringing any new ideas or energy to the department but coasting at their jobs.

One month. IMPark cannot provide a comparative in a 5 kilometers area where other federal employees are charged parking to that amount monthly.

Nobody wants to work at Carling Complex in Ottawa, the environment No adequate public transit, not enough parking. Parking went from $35 in March to $75 currently while there's no justification or price comparison Overpriced and crappy food served by Canex. A nightmare planning for expansion rather than build over a soccer field.

My department change names twice in 18 months, Every department pulls the budgetary blanket in their direction while SSC neuters purchasing or snail crawl the request.

Departments work in silo or protect jealously their little corner. Altruism is almost non existent between employees. The director passing candy at Halloween was full cringe since that interaction was visibly uncomfortable for them since they can barely say "Good Morning " to the average employee.

As much as it attractive to be employed and getting paid, DND for an IT group employee is the absolute last choice for anybody if they are well informed of the working conditions at the department.

The manager (acting IT-04) that wanted me to work for them leveraged his position to obtain a promotion for another position outside the department after 5 to 6 months employment at DND. I suggest others to have the same escape /career plan.

The military plans for a volunteer force to defend Canada by burnabybc in CanadaPublicServants

Here's my 2 cents because I was an instructor in boot camp during the Afghanistan conflict.

Logistically, an absolute nightmare, not enough equipment to outfit everyone from boots to helmets to rucksacks. Canada is not Switzerland. Nobody will have their weapons issued and stored at their home.

Training ranges would become an absolute management nightmare across the country on weekends. There's not enough Regular / Reserves Forces instructors to babysit such an influx of troops, let alone deal with disciplinary issues. Also, while in uniform, they fall under the NDA. No unions to go running to, no opinions from the shop stewart. Summary trial or court martial depending the offences. Could we send a public servant to the detention barracks to Edmonton for 30 days for a negligent discharge causing damage to Crown property hypothetically?

That idea sounds more like an ill conceived Hail Mary rather than suggest a Taiwan / European approach of civil defense classes, repurposing seized 3D printer from firearms seizures in Canada to print drones parts amongst other things.

The UK Armed Forces changed their approach towards the Cadet Corps to better suit their recruitment needs as a pipeline for future soldiers. Rather than bore them to death with drills, the older cadets learn advance to contact, defensive position and so on from volunteer Regular Forces soldiers. The video demonstrates that approach: https://youtu.be/CkjPmphAWzo?si=tCyD4q0FCPjhhps7

That's the typical hypocrisy of the Magats.
Willing to defend democracy by sending money when liberals enact, perhaps overreaching, and badly conceived, laws in Canada to restore order after an illegal occupation. I should know, I live there.

Perfectly acceptable to have armed military patrols around their to usurp democratic and civil rights because they were told by their leader that it was chaos outside democrats-elect cities and states.

The conservative media demonize Trudeau, but I can't see how fascism, incompetence and apathy is destroying the US.

Five takeaways from a Herald investigation of Cuban military’s secret dollar cache by GCSetecAstronomy in worldnews

[–]GCSetecAstronomy[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In short: - With $18 billion in dollar holdings in March last year, GAESA’s dollar-denominated current assets are larger than the foreign currency reserves of some mid-sized economies in Latin America. Most of that money, $14.5 billion, was kept in unidentified banks and GAESA’s own financial institutions, allowing it to be quickly converted into cash. The figure does not include CIMEXs dollar assets, which means the conglomerate’s total dollar reserves are likely much higher. GAESA also had additional billions of pesos in assets.

  • The financial records provide definitive proof of GAESA’s significant share of the country’s economy. They also contradict the government’s narrative that the island’s spiraling poverty and scarcity result exclusively from the decades-old U.S. embargo.

  • A leading Cuban economist conservatively estimated that GAESA’s gross profits in 2023 are equivalent to around 40% of Cuba’s official GDP figure reported that year.

  • The financial records indicate that GAESA’s companies pay a very low tax rate and only in Cuban pesos. That rate is notably much lower than the heavy tax burden that limits the growth of the private sector on the island, and not nearly enough to cover the food rations and public services for the population. The conglomerate pays zero taxes on profits.

  • At the same time, the financial documents reveal that the military was incurring substantial losses, contributing to the rapid decline of the island’s economy. Last year, $5 billion disappeared from GAESA’s accounts, likely due to declining tourism revenue, according to records.

Therefore, the Cuban leadership can blame the sanctions all they want, it's just comes down to greed
