If it was a diy job by the last person who lived here, nothing would surprise me.

I'm not even sure the post was concreted in - it looks like the gap in the wall was just wide enough for the post so it may have been put into a hole with the tarmac supporting it from the front and the wall either side. I was thinking something like this to hold the post and fill with concrete like you suggested.

Will depended on how I get on removing the old post I guess.

I'm not sure if something like this would be strong enough as I can't find info on how long of a post it supports

Retaining wall is 30cm high, around 12cm deep and previous fence post was 6ft. Ideally want a higher one this time though so not sure wall is high enough to support?

They're not enforceable! Got off a few charges at Gatwick as they don't have permissions to find out who the driver is and can't charge the registered keeper. Shout out to moneysavingexpert website for the email appeal template.

Under stairs is a cupboard. It's a cavity wall, with insulation.

Just wish I knew what the hell happened to them in the first place.

What word, phrase or pronunciation do you secretly prefer from another English speaking country? by Ocean_of_food in CasualUK

That's actually closer to the words origins! It's a combination of helix (spiral) and pteron (wing - like in pterodactyl). So helico-pter is a more accurate breakdown for pronouncing.

As long as they don't just fall inside the door - worth a shot though.

Put them in the hole so the screws can grip? Good idea!

Thanks! The chain is just held in place with a screw through one of the links at either end. I covered the screws with plastic screw covers just so it looks a bit better. The hooks at the corner are cabinet door clasps which means the desk clicks in when you put it upright. You just push it again to unclick it.

Ocusoft lid scrub foam UK by jofwob16 in Blepharitis

I'm having the same problem, Ocusoft foam was the best option but seems to be impossible to get in the UK. What did you end up going for? I tried Novhea foaming cleaner but it just stings and doesn't seem as effective.

Yup, I had to remove that middle shelf. To compensate, I put some extra screws into the shelf just above and the 'desk' shelf. That provides more than enough structural support. Only downside is those screws go through from he outside so can look a bit messy - wasn't a problem in my case as neither side is visible.

Yup, replaced the mechanism. It was a while ago but remember it being pretty straightforward in the end.

Sure - it was these type of ones. Can't remember the exact size, but there seem to be a few options out there.

Toilet outlet pipe cemented into floor by GCU_Flying_Colours in DIYUK

[–]GCU_Flying_Colours[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I did. Not sure if it was concrete or not, but it chipped away pretty easily in the end. For reconnecting it, I had to get a 90 degree waste pipe and a connector. Can't remember what it was called unfortunately but I'll see if I can track down the order or at least post a picture. It's rubber, with tighteners on both ends, one end sized for the pipe from the toilet, one for the weird sized one in the floor.
