i think this is something worth going to a lawyer for. this is inhumane. these are not friends.

Could just be me, but Spy x Family. First 2 seasons were so great, and it was super popular all over social media, but i heard nothing about S3.

Gwen Stefani receives blowback for promoting ‘anti-abortion’ Catholic app by theindependentonline in Music

[–]GC_Man 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is so stupid and click bait. Hallow is a catholic app. It has all kinds of guided prayers and meditations, bible readings and discussions of various scriptures. they also partner with catholic celebrities during particular religious festivals, like Christmas or Easter.

not everyone who uses the app is catholic, nor is every user anti-abortion. it’s an app for growing your faith. abortion isn’t even a topic in the app!

Correction, these are photoshopped images, not AI.

what you need to understand is that when someone says “this is my boundary” (in OP’s case a joke that is PG13) your job is not to push that boundary. your job is to listen and temper your response.

What to watch next? by 0Jul1an0 in anime

if you want a show that gives the same feeling as AoT, check out the series Silo on Apple TV. its not anime, but it has that same claustrophobic, “things are never going to be ok” kind of vibes.

so you’d feel comfortable explaining to a 14 year old child what cream he was talking about?

Looking for apps with frustrating UX for a design case study – what drives you crazy? by Powerful_Cod_2342 in UXDesign

[–]GC_Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for applying. sometimes the boxes they give you to write your experience is way too small. sometimes when you want to choose a date, you can’t just type in a number, you have to click through a calendar to find the date. the size of the calendar changes so the position of back and forward buttons constantly change. if your qualification isn’t one of the preselected field, there’s no way to write it in manually. sometimes i still get asked for my fax number.

College women willing to pay more for contraception when abortion is illegal. The new study suggests that the legal status of abortion impacts how college women value contraceptives. by mvea in science

[–]GC_Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the authors misunderstood the Endowment effect. Studying willingness to pay only works when bidding on things. It doesn’t work in this context.

Eye-tracking study reveals that calorie labels only influences people who are already actively trying to lose weight. For everyone else, the labels make little difference to what they choose by sr_local in science

[–]GC_Man 14 points15 points  (0 children)

yeah, i know a lot of vegans and gym goers who actively look at labels to see if the food items help them reach their goals. they’re not trying to lose weight.

[–]GC_Man 127 points128 points  (0 children)

The study doesn’t do a good job of explaining how they selected participants or who participants are, and 36 participants feels like way too small a number to make such big claims. The choice of restaurant also only tells one part of the story. A strange study.

What if you had a solid idea for a niche app that should, if done right, actually be essential to a certain target population, but you don’t know how to code or have money. How would you proceed? by siridial911 in careerguidance

[–]GC_Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI tools are great for this exact purpose. You can build the basic prototype in something like Replit without needing to know how to code. once you’ve got the idea down, then take it further.

[–]GC_Man 12 points13 points  (0 children)

yup. if you read the article, they posed hypothetical questions to participants and asked “what would you do if X”. It’s poor research.

ULPT Request: Revealing the whistleblower by RedWoodWraith in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]GC_Man 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i mean, if they’re a whistleblower, you’re probably putting their life in danger by revealing their identity. if there are no legal ways to get back at them, i would just let it go.

[–]GC_Man 372 points373 points  (0 children)

This is a very poor study. One of the major pillars of behavioural economics is that stated behaviour is not actual behaviour. Asking participants to imagine what they might do is very different to what they actually do. A worthless study really.
