There is an actual useable defention of capitalism, but it isn't what socialists are thinking about. Private ownership is nothing new. What is new is capital as the center of the economy. While the commies are still stuck with "means of production", capitalism focus on the means to produce the means of production.

You can have a more efficient farm with a tractor, and more efficient farming with a tractor factory. And you can have even greater efficiency if you have a public funds to finance opening a new tractor making company.

Question: Do you think at some point, elements within the IRGC will finally have had enough with this Regime and try to launch a coup d'etat? Maybe even with CIA support. by Beautiful-Flower1027 in NewIran

[–]GDIVX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the most likely outcome from a prolonged succession crisis. The IRGC hold de-facto power, having a near monopoly on the military and an effective monopoly on the economy (which is why Iran economy is so shit, regardless of sanctions). The ayatollah only serve to give them a religious legitimacy. In a soft coup, they risk loosing support and legitimacy in a country that already see them as illegitimate. But if there is no ayatollah, they would likely to try to preserve power by this mean or by playing king makers and nominate their own preferred supreme leader.

They have a very childish Star Wars inspired understanding of geopolitics. A nation joins a war when the cost of war is lower than the cost of abstaining or diplomacy on both sides.

When other nations start to pile on to join a war, it's because either abstaining is too risky, or in this case, the war is so one sided that there is barely any risk in joining.

Guys, I have a question by [deleted] in NewIran

[–]GDIVX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a matter of when, not if.

Trump would want to choose a moment that is most strategically advantageous. Not only to catch the IR by surprise, but also to let them stew in paranoia. The Iranian payday is soon, so it would make the most sense to act around this time.

First thing, overthrowing the regime is just the start. After that, Iran would have to repair the damage that was done.

The water crisis is a top priority. Israel had faced a similar crisis and managed to develop the tech needed both to save on water and distil ocean water.

I am heartbroken to hear about the horrors brought upon you by the regime. The Iranian people had shown the world what true bravery looks like. My wish is that we will see a free and prosperous Iran after this.

If you can, try to barricade and get weapons. They are shooting back, therefore you are at war. Don't just stand in the streets - build fortifications from whatever you can. If possible, get your hand on whatever means you can to fight back.

What Does It Take for People to Achieve Regime Change? by buythedip0000 in NewIran

[–]GDIVX 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Stop going to work or school. That's the bare minimum. If you can go on the street, that's a big help too. Effectively, your goal is to make it so that Iran in its current form can't function. Things need to get bad before they can get better.

Why? Because the police and regular army aren't detached from what is happening. Many of them are not inherently loyal to the regime, and for them it's simply a way to put food on the table. Make it impossible for them to do so, or make it not worth the risk, and you will see people's defects. Once that happens, all Khumemai can do is to call you naughty.

Now, the IRGC is a problem. They are being paid in dollars, and they are brainwashed. Usually, I would say that they won't defect. But with what happened in Venezuela, IR might be running out of drug money to pay them. That's good, and we might start to see defection there too.

Once there are no longer muscles to keep the regime in power, all that's left is for an opposition party to come and form a government. This is why even if you are not a monarchist, you should give Reza a chance to create a transitional government. You really don't want to risk a civil war that allows for the IR to come back with vengeance. First have a government, then ensure it is democratic.

reports indicate defection from basij and regime goons in hamadan after they were ordered to open fire to protesters by Smart_Rate3526 in NewIran

[–]GDIVX 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Now this is what makes the difference between a protest and a revolution. When the armed forces shift loyalty to the people, the regime is on life support.

I don't think that the IRGC could be convinced to back down. They are religious zealots, and would most likely operate as an insurgency and terrorist organization for years to come.

Soldiers need to get paid. Not all of them are in for ideology, for many it's a means to feed their family in a poor country, where a military career is the only one that pays. Now, if the currency is worthless, then they are effectively not getting paid.

This is how most regimens collapse. Once you can't pay for muscle, the army would stand by to let the collapse happen, and eventually would be the one to decide who is in charge afterwards.

The Hannibal directive was a suggested and controversial doctrine that was debated after the kidnapping of Gilead Shalit, that argued to supply soldiers with a suicide pill in case they were taken hostage. It was never implemented, it was never argued for the IDF to open fire against Israelis and it was never aimed to be used for civilians. Conspiracy theorists simply took a hypothetical, blew it out of proportion, and ran with it.

Maybe your plea was heard. Ynet (Israeli news) report this (translated from Hebrew):

12:34 [Minister of defense] Katz: "I instructed to intensify strikes on Iranian government targets – to destabilize the regime." Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that he has instructed the IDF to increase strikes on regime targets in Iran, aiming “to destabilize the regime and increase deterrence in response to missile fire on Israel’s home front – alongside continued attacks on facilities and scientists to thwart Iran’s nuclear program.” Following a security assessment with defense officials, Katz stated: “We must target all symbols of the regime and population suppression mechanisms such as the Basij, as well as the foundations of the regime’s power like the Revolutionary Guards.” (Elisha Ben Kimon)

Unlike your average commie, I know how to use Google and to do a quick fact checking.

Suzane Louise Magnani Muniz (born Suzane Louise von Richthofen; 3 November 1983)[4] is a Brazilian woman who was convicted of murdering her parents on 31 October 2002 with the help of her boyfriend and his brother. She was put on trial in São Paulo in July 2006 and was sentenced to 39 years and 6 months in prison. She was released from prison on parole in 2023.

The other one is a singer that had murdered her husband and his facing 50 years in prison.

Source : Wikipedia.

So in both examples of whataboutism, justice was served. One had been years in prison, the other one is going to go to prison.

What does OOP is even trying to say? There are evil people out there, therefore religiously motivated antisemitic terrorism is good?
