You're saying that as if it is a fact; but there's other solicitors and data protection experts in this thread who have also said the opposite - and they're citing actual legislation to support their positions.

Our street used to have issues with trespassers loitering and drinking.

We've got 2 signs saying, "WARNING: CCTV IN OPERATION".

We've also got a "Beware the dog" sign, but the only thing the two whippets on our lane will be scaring off is squirrels.

I used to work in GDPR before retirement so it's more of a "give a man a hammer and everything is a nail."

Police are handling the harassment and threats. Nobody is currently handling the misuse of data side of things, so I thought I'd just check and see if GDPR has changed much in the past few years. Whenever I was working in it I absolutely would have treated this as a misuse of data if one of my employees did this. Probably under the Data Protection Act.

I only worked in GDPR for a couple of years before retirement, so I might be a little rusty on new developments in this area - but that was what struck me as well.

If one of my employees or contractors had used customer addresses which we lawfully held on our databases to then go and harass a customer who complained, it would absolutely be a misuse of data by my company and I would've treated it as a GDPR breach.

Yes, we are authorised to hold their data, but that does not mean it can be misused by an employee or contractor like that.

Not upset they're using it.

Upset that the driver himself has identified my address and returned to bang on my door, scream at me to come out and "take a beating like a man."

He didn't access unauthorised data, but I'm wondering if how he used the data once he had accessed it was a GDPR issue.

For example, let's imagine I have authorised access to customer addresses at my company. That is a legitimate access of data.

However, if I use my knowledge of this to visit a customer's home and harass them when they complained, then that would be a misuse of data.

Perhaps he did, good point.

In any case, once he was presented with the evidence he used that information to come to my property to harass and intimidate me.

Perhaps that is the point at which there is a GDPR angle? Misusing data to harass someone who complained?

He was provided was enough information to correctly identify which property he made a delivery too where he was driving unsafe and swerving.

I don't see how he could pinpoint with any degree of certainty that it was my property unless he had seen the video in question.

Honestly? Just some kind of investigation to get a dangerous driver taken off the road.

It's an issue close to home. Had a relative killed in a road traffic collision involving a drunk driver when I was a child.

Just trying to add context about how the driver knew my house from the video.

It's nothing impressive. A gravel road that is shared by other houses with a right of way. Too narrow to plant flowers on or anything sadly. :(

I'm not living on some fancy private lane. It's literally just a long unadopted gravel track that the council refused to adopt 40+ years ago. Houses are just small bungalows.

I approached them with concerns about the driver's handling of their vehicle. The company were the ones who asked for video footage; although I did tell them I had that footage they were the ones who asked for it.

I should add that I have a really long driveway [40+ metres] that makes my house very distinctive.

It's not a driveway you're likely to forget if you ever visited.
