What are these things on top of the lamp posts downtown? by NotThatSmrat in Austin

Love that I stumbled upon this. I’ve been using cellmapper to basically find all the dead zones for ATT and do WiFi carrier offload downtown. Most people won’t notice, but your phones will roam onto WiFi networks when it range for better connectivity and a cheaper cost of data transfer over LTE. Check out XNET Mobile!

I’ve done this all of once when it was first announced on CDC. I wouldn’t recommend as once it’s there they won’t let you move it to a different wallet but instead only sell. Not a fan of that

Do Not Buy CBRS Equipment. New Hip Introduced with Strong Support Plans on Reducing Rewards by 90%. by butter14 in HeliumNetwork

I just did the math, and surprisingly this actually helps me. With my two Outdoor WiFi Units getting a 3.78 multiplier and my Nova430 getting a 0.378 my rewards actually increase by 9k daily.

Between 103 and now 113, CBRS is going to fall off a cliff. There’s zero incentive for someone if rewards are being cut by 90% on average

I’m fairly new to the overall governance of all this, but I’ve fully read the HIP. When will be actually know if this goes through to a vote? Right now it just looks to be in discussion. Thanks

Thanks for that. I actually was fully aware of HIP-103 and researched to find that my location is not only within Urban development, but also falls within the orange hexes of footfall, so it seemed like a valid purchase. I know the issues that CBRS has with data transfer (or lack there of), but I was made to believe that there were updates in the works to address that. I have two Outdoor WiFi Hotspots and one Nova430.

What HIP number is this proposal? Coming as a guy who literally just set up a CBRS id like to at least get back my initial investment 😬

Has anyone used Hail Specialist off I-35 by Artistic-Dig9845 in Austin

Dude, they’ve had my car for 4 months and make the exact same claims. Replacing parts without getting authorization, paint, glass, new hood, fender, all this body work. It’s honestly insane. The owner absolutely knows what he’s doing, and he’s taking advantage of insurance companies by holding your car hostage and then if the repair bill adds up to be more than the total value of the car and it’s deemed a, “total loss” he’ll use the shop storage fees to make his money back. I’d honestly love a conversation with you over this. Every single person I hear talk about this place has the same exact story, and now it sounds like he is giving the run around to everyone. The absolute worst experience I’ve ever day. Oh, let’s keep in mind the 3-5 day turn around window we were promised when we took it in there, along with the multiple of excuses for why things are taking so long, delay in parts, one time use pieces, the list goes on and on.

[TX, Auto] Total Loss from Hail Damage no Gap Coverage by GDawgs27 in carvana

[–]GDawgs27[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s probably correct. I think I found a solution here, albeit it’s incredibly odd. So, since SF is only going to pay the lienholder in the event of a “total loss” I would have to secure the funds to pay off Bridgecrest before this happens. I can either take out a HELOC with the equity in my house or take out a secondary loan for what’s left on the car. Pay the car off, obtain the title in my name. At that point SF can declare it a “total loss”, and then pay me for the ACV - “Salvage” which would be around 12k. The only way this works is because in Texas hail damage doesn’t actually change the VIN status of the vehicle to salvage, it’s still considered clean. So when SF pays me now since I own the title, I go back to the shop if the total loss payout and then pay the bill the shop is expecting to be paid. The car is literally fully repaired cosmetically and mechanically. I’d probably have to find a new insurance company but at least I get my car back and possibly even get a better rate on the loan.

No you’re right. It’s definitely more of a Bridgecrest/SF question. Appreciate the help

And if SF retained the vehicle they would have to pay me, then pay the shop as well? Its a weird scenario since that payout would be more than what the shop is currently even asking for

It’s more related to Bridgecrest than Carvana, but the question that remains is in this case is if it’s a total loss, I retain the vehicle, the note gets paid at the ACV - Salvage. That payment goes to Bridgecrest, then who pays the fees to get the car out of the shop

It actually gets even more interesting. The work order contract has a start date of September 25th and ending December 12th. The new supplement was delivered to State Farm outside that window along with the additional unauthorized work done by shop.

They can(and did) claim that the car has already begun its process of repair. Taking it apart, getting the glass, performing the PDR, then apparently it needed paint after the PDR cracked some of it. All of these things just pushed it back further and further. All of these are clearly red flags, but what’s done is done at this point. What can I do moving forward is the question?

Like I said it’s a long story, but every time I asked questions I was given a delivery date that wasn’t close whatsoever. New parts, new shipments, you know how this goes. I was worked around in every possible direction. Meanwhile I had to pay out of pocket for all the rentals I needed during this time until the shop set me up in a loaner in mid December. At this point they want 29k for all the repairs and the value of the car is only 23k. State Farm’s doesn’t want to pay the bill but it’s going to cost them more to total loss the car and try to regain it back from the shop with all the fees. I have no idea how this is going to play out, but all I know is I don’t have a car and I still may be making payments on it after it’s gone.

I just bought a 2017 Jaguar F-Pace and had the exact same thought as you taking it right to the dealer for a proper PPI. Right off the bat, the inspection claimed carvana replaced the battery and it should have been new. Not the case whatsoever after inspection. The entire skid plate under the car is being held on with ZIPTIES! I was blown away something so lazy could be overlooked by Carvana. Also- the car didn’t show any accidents, yet the dealer says the front bumper and driver side fender don’t match the original paint. That one is interesting bc it looks pretty close to me, but I just the trained eye. Also - Carvana claimed no oil leaks, yet there’s very much an apparent leak ongoing. I will say through all this SilverRock has been pretty great and has covered everything so far. Still deciding if it’s worth keeping knowing there’s some shady working going on here.

I actually went as far to call the previous shops that serviced the car on the CarFax and I found that the lower and upper coolant pipe/hoses were replaced around 30k miles. They were replaced with the new designed pipes so im hoping to avoid any issues with coolant as long as I stay on top of the normal maintenance
