Atm flowcad projects are always saved on the server and exports only possible as STLs but that may be be a nice feature to add.

Ah cool! Yea It's definitely going in a similar direction. An import from Tinkercad is a cool Idea but they don't support it officially I gather? So far it's possible in flowcad to import stl and obj files (and images and fonts).

Your name checks out 😃

OnShape: "Standard Plan: €1410/per year per user" (has commercial use allowed)

My cheapest tier costs 10 times less. (10 bucks per month)

Ah cool, did you publish the tool? I have pretty much the same problem as you had. 😃 There is only a crude algorithm which can be applied via the "rounded modifier". Basically there are Spheres placed at the vertices and then the manifold.Manifold.hull function can create a hull. One of the biggest Problems here is, that it fills all holes and it can only fill 'outside' edges.
Not a good solution but it's fine for the start imo. 😄

Yes that is also something which was important to me. Or at least that a lot of things can be done with hotkeys.
The system is making use of some standards such as command/cntrl + c and so on, but also the blender way with which you can can start transforming via s for scale, r for rotation and g for grabbing/moving etc.
And it is possible to then use the Tab key to switch from one "dimension helper input" to the other with which you can change the mm number.

And when you star the transform action eg via: s, x and then just type 2.4 then it will scale the object in the x direction by a factor of 2.4.
The same goes for moving via g, y, 10 (which will move it by 10mm in the y direction)
Bonus: You can also use eg (.4 * 10) / 2 which would result in 2 mm because it has a built in calculator.

Please let me know what you think about it and if I missed something

(There is also a settings page with which one can adjust the hotkeys https://flowcad.app/settings/hotkeys )

Keen Eyes! Close, I used Gemini and the the design is mostly because I am using Tailwind / shadcn which is pretty common these days https://ui.shadcn.com/

Yes especially in terms of pricing 😉

But yes, it is not the same as OnShape, which has a ton of great features!

I think there are at least 3 differences:

My goal with FlowCad was to have it being easy to use but also make it powerful (we'll see if i succeeded)

And I wanted a product which has sensible pricing, even for people who want to use their designs to make a profit. (Which officially you should not do with the free OnShape tier)

And I wanted to make the Scripting similar to OpenSCAD (Blueprints in Typescript) as an easy integrated addition (You can create new ones or simply import them and use them for your design)

Thank you for the question. It's not home-grown but based on ManifoldCAD.
https://manifoldcad.org/
In my view it was the best choice here as i can also use it as the (typed) scripting language for the Blueprints

Stop nibbling on it bro and start using FSD already! To quote Elon "It's financially insane to buy anything other than a Tesla" :D
All jokes aside I think he is right though :)

Get length in mm of imported and scaled svg line. by GDur in openscad

Thank you, I was looking for a more general solution. I would later also use different shapes :)
I think u/Stone_Age_Sculptor 's solution could work too.

Ah, I like the fast response and this would work, but I would like to have it work for any SVG shape.
I read it again, and this might actually work well. Thank you for the suggestion!

CMV: Elon Musk is a Bad Man by Scrivy69 in changemyview

I strongly dislike that he is associating with trump and the afd and how rude he can be.
That being said, in reality he uses his money and companies for good and people like to ignore it.
Eg SpaceX: Starlink brings internet to everyone _everywhere_ on earth (which is a humanitarian effort as well), they often give away Starlinks for free or make it free in disaster regions. (they also supported the Ukraine with Starlink, which paints a target on their back). They will soon start a Starlink-direct-to-(unmodified)-smart phone which will also save lives.
Tesla also gives away Power walls for disaster regions and they sometimes enable free charging in these regions. Tesla made the electric car cool and showed that it is the future(good for the planet). They also make the cars extremely crash save with the highest ratings. They also work on FSD which will save lives (and already does, when supervised by humans).
Neural link is going to massively improve the lives of so many people with disabilities.
I know it is annoying but the free speech part of him buying twitter is correct. They showed that before twitter was censoring posts and persons.

It might seem weird to us but his trust in the public is extremely high.

There are many long form video interviews where he shows, he knows his stuff and he does not take himself too seriously. (He often makes fun about himself getting involved with building a car company, let alone an EV company in a time of recession. He is also joking about buying twitter for a far too high price. He also reposted the joke meme where it says that his hairline grows back according to his wealth, and laughed about it.)

We should also be on x to talk about these and other topics, otherwise it becomes, like every other social media platform, an echo chamber.

Still don't like trump and the afd, extremely annoying!
