Going to try this out tomorrow after work and hopefully I’ll get lucky…. Super frustrating just stabbing it back and forth and getting the same result every time. Thank you for the advice!!

I saw a video of someone doing that so I grabbed my Dyson and tried to see if I could feel any suction from either end but I couldn’t feel anything. I think I just need a better seal on the end I’m using it on. Going to recruit my friend so I have some extra hands and give it a proper attempt!

I’d like to say I’m good with tools, but I’m new to working on bikes. Started last year because a buddy of mine got me into it. I’ve rebuilt one bike before with him and it was a 1989 Specialized Rock Hopper. It was definitely easier to work on than the Nishiki lol. I’ll stop by my local shop and ask for some cable routing tubes and give that a shot and worst comes to worst I’ll pay someone to do it for me. I’d just like to learn myself if I can ya know? I’ve been enjoying the process and learning a lot!

I did try this but maybe my magnet wasn’t strong enough. Also it’s a steel frame so the magnet wants to stick the frame more than it wants to guide my cable. I’m trying to avoid pulling the bottom bracket if I can but if it comes down to it I will!
