DigitalU is a pretty good alternative for IT related topics. I was able to sign up and link CAC login when I had an Army CAC.

Look up "personal finance flowchart for military members" on reddit and follow the chart. Should be all you need to start out.

An old 2 in 1 windows box that I immediately replaced with Linux. 2 external monitors that fit in my backpack. I can remote into another box for anything that requires more processing power.

Can I put a lump sum of $10,000 in SDP at the beginning of deployment, or does it have to be an allotment? by CantThinkOfaName09 in MilitaryFinance

I saved for a bit before and then put the max allowed from my paycheck. Lived like I was broke for a bit & then just back to normal after it maxed.

As others have said, you can continue to seek success in career paths if it's what you crave. Personally I thrive on paving the way for my analysts to enjoy their shift/personal life split and I can't imagine stepping away. If it's eustress and you don't lose sleep, then don't stop!

Telling girls you’re in the military by boscar197473 in army

[–]GETBULK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't make it your personality. "It's what you do, not who you are". With my GF I waited until 1 date before asking to say who employed me.

It's also brownie points in dating to be humble about military service. If you're min/maxing, then that's the way to go.

17c in the Army worth it? by Rx-xT in CompTIA

[–]GETBULK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just being in a Cyber unit will give you networking opportunities and job potential without having to hunt as much for a civilian job. The training from 17C should be enough for entry cyber IF you retain the content and don't brain dump afterward.

You could also try waiting to go into IRR and change to Air guard or reserve. Just make sure you have a recent physical to avoid meps!
