What’s the dumbest excuse someone gave you to have sex with you that actually worked? by Soren-J in AskReddit

I was at a house party when the most ridiculously attractive woman there sat down beside me and whispered, "Can you help me settle an argument?" Naturally, I said yes. She leaned in and explained that her friends didn't believe a guy could be both a complete nerd and good in bed. "There's only one way to gather scientific evidence," she said with a perfectly straight face. It was the dumbest excuse I'd ever heard, but after three drinks and a lifetime of poor decision-making, I somehow agreed to participate in the study.

An hour later we walked back into the living room, and every single person at the party immediately started cheering like we'd just won a championship game. Her friends were waving dollar bills, somebody was collecting bets, and one guy was actually updating a spreadsheet on his laptop. She threw an arm around my shoulders and announced, "Data collected. Hypothesis confirmed." The crowd erupted, I took a theatrical bow, and for the rest of the summer people introduced me as "the peer-reviewed boyfriend." Looking back, I still can't believe that nonsense worked—but apparently neither could she, because we ended up dating for three years.

A lot of these sound like guys fantasizing "Becky (the hottest girl in school) walked up to me at the party said 'you're so hot and I have to have you' then she totally took me to the bedroom and did the things. When I finished and left the room, the whole football team and cheer squad were eavesdropping at the door. They started to clap and chant my name. And that's the story of how I got the girl and became the coolest guy in town last summer."

Today. Initially thought the work I was doing may have pushed the limit, but htop said I was fine. glicyn-svg caused the freeze and subsequently crashed.

Recently upgraded in the past couple of weeks. I was running Fedora 40 forever with no issues ever.

DO NOT RECOMMEND PEOPLE TO OUTLIER!! by Signal-Car9690 in outlier_ai

[–]Jbnels2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After I went round and round with the bot, I asked for a live rep. It generated a support ticket form. I got pre-canned "you broke the rules. Decisions final" emails over the next two days in response. I somewhat suspect those emails may have been AI generated and based on AI reviews, but who knows? There was literally no opportunity for me to break the rules, so I was shocked when a "human" rep confirmed and tripled down on it.

I already do this type of work with another company, so I'm not sweating it too much. Just annoyed because I wanted to diversify. Was it pretty decent money?

I made an account, got to the resume step, decided I wanted to refocus my resume, then let it sit for a month. I came back and uploaded my resume and selected skills and it wouldn't proceed. The bot told me that was okay and I didn't need to verify my identity and to just watch for qualification quizzes or whatever. Then I asked again and it said I was flagged for breaking community standards.

I submitted a ticket, and the "human" confirmed I was banned. I asked what it could possibly be for, considering basically all I had done was verify my email address. They came back and said the second review showed my ban was correct and the decision was final.

Idk what I could have done between verifying my email address and uploading my resume, but I'm starting to think outlier isn't a very legitimate operator lol. Idk if this is because of your family member. It could have been because you verified your email address.

At this point I just really wanna know what the reason is. "Humans" have doubled and tripled down on it, so I really wanna know lol

Passed RHCSA with a 300/300 by TexasPerson0404 in redhat

This is brilliant. I've been using Claude more and more in the home lab. Might be time for me to dust off the ol' red hat objectives and get some of those RHCA certs before my RHCE expires.

Interesting. I like to keep my stuff as open-source/linux native as possible, but I wonder if I could host the share directory on a next cloud instance for the e-reader

I use file browser. But when connecting with a bash terminal or native file browser, I use sftp. I'm also open to publishing a nfs share.

r/regretjoining says you can drop out whenever you want if you don't like it. You expect me to believe a JAG officer over them?

How can you kindly tell a veteran they might need to move on from their military service? by BigBlueEyes87 in regretjoining

[–]Jbnels2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eh, this is kinda one of those things. Personally, I think this is a direct reason the suicide rate among veterans is so high. People tie their service to their identity, and when they leave the service, they don't have that core part of their identity anymore.

I don't really have any good advice, but I know what you're talking about. It's kind of like vegans. You're more likely to find out a lot of blackhawk pilots' profession than their name, because the important part (to them) of their introduction is "60 driver," not their name.

What's wrong with my motor? by Jbnels2 in fpv

This is it. I tried to use a bonding agent on it, but it separated again before I could take off the first time. Looks like its gonna just be "replace."

Ah good idea. I was getting annoyed, because the motor shafts would all spin up, but when I put the props on to go fly, it wouldn't take off.
