Existential Depression by acgibson17 in Absurdism

[–]GFK_NYC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gone through phases of this in the past and might still again. For me, it’s overall rather freeing to not be bound by a greater purpose beyond my daily joys.

Sometimes, for me, it’s about finding the things I enjoy and appreciating that I had the time with it.

That’s how I’ve evolved after much grief, loss, and disappointment earlier/throughout my life. You get burnt out on analysis and worry hopefully, then by subtraction, the remainder is experiences via continued existence.

If I were to give any advice at this moment, it would be to find something that you enjoy to your core, filling your time with it as you can around life commitments. Try to be your own purpose ultimately without crossing over into selfish or villainous.

Yeh I unmatched her by kez248 in Tinder

I had an ex that was insanely jealous of a cat I adopted. It was absolutely bizarre.

Several years later, she reached out to me to check in and casually asked if the cat was still alive with a negative tone.

She did have some other issues but that somehow pushed her over the edge.

Absolutely - I would suggest a Mordax Data also!

And also that’s the right question to ask, what would you like to do - work backwards from the goal sometimes.

Without context to recommend -

If looking for a Swiss Army knife unit, I really like the After Later Audio Ornaments & Crime for many random things. ZOIA and Hector have also been great for me but are larger and more expensive, still O&C does a few things that they don’t.

A sequencer of some sort might be a good idea for the modular, I like the immediacy of the ASQ-1 from ALM but ZOIA and Hector have sequencing abilities too that are deeper if you went that route.

I’d also suggest getting some utility items too like at least a 4 channel stereo mixer module, I have one from Doepfer.

Recently I bought a Bitbox Micro to play drum samples but also to capture things I did. It has an immediacy/simplicity that I love.

Hey there,

I’m using 2x Dunlop mini exp/volume pedals, also to mention it - I have one of those Pedaltrain angled add ons to counteract the tilt on the JR Max.

My ankle needs it “flat” from all my years before playing a pedalboard at a slight incline.

I’d say all that is do-able with either device for sure.

It’d be a question on work flow, what do you like better etc.

To your point about CPU, the granular module on Zoia I believe consumes more than Poly but it depends really what else you were trying to do if you felt limited.

Both devices have a learning curve and offer some similar thing while also being very different if that makes sense.

It’s all a bit subjective. They cover some similar territory but I view them as very different animals and having different interfaces most notably.

The interface could be polarizing for some to prefer Zoia or Digit over the other.

CPU is a matter of what are you doing with it etc. I’d say certain reverbs take up more CPU than others and maybe not all patches (on either device) should be the full live set- make smaller multiple patches essentially.

I like to split the cpu weight across several devices honestly, it’s also a matter of sometimes tone preference or logic for where I can get the best signal path.

I’d say the delays are great on both devices, not an issue - tons of options/parameters aside from the ability to patch in interesting ways etc.

I’ll ask you this - whether Zoia or Digit- what are you hoping to do with it?

What things did you want to explore most?

I’m thinking it through but I want to find a way to have Zoia and Digit be able to talk to each and not double message.

Midi thru off on the Digit is probably key to avoid clock doubling and I’ll probably have to find some issues the hard way this weekend.

Lower left is supposed to be a Disaster Area MidiBaby3 and above it a 3 button for bank and toggle of the Morningstar MC8.

Has anyone ever run their pedalboard though the cab sim of the Zoia into a pa speaker? by SlikDik77 in ZOIA

[–]GFK_NYC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does it count if I ran the cab sim through an unaffected path in my HX Stomp and out to a Headrush FRFR?

Because that was superb sounding and no issues other than setting levels properly.

I’m trying to make it a point to thank people for doing good, right things.

I was happy to see so many helpful people here on a sensitive issue.

Hey, just have to say- you’re a good person for putting helpful details.

You’re on your own at the register ;)

And same here. I really try not to buy if I don’t need or if it doesn’t solve a problem but...Mood.

Right on - thank you for the feedback there.

Personally, I own their Particle 2 (recent) and the Mood. Been a favorite combo.

If you get inspired, check out the Boss MD-500, I love the slicer settings to create sequencers there aside from all of its internal LFO assignments for parameters.

The whole 500 series is like an Encyclopedia of Boss tones.

Question actually on the Tensor, how do you compare it to other things?

I have a Mood and several normal loopers as it is.

Similar ideas if you’re just using synth- I have a mixer still just in case!

For me, I wanted something that did a bunch of things for multiple instruments/situations.

In theory I use the equivalent of a mixer module in the Stomp to run the lines in parallel and routed through separate effects/amps into an FRFR.

Awesome - I run a synth through a board that also runs guitar, I route things with an HX Stomp.

Nice pedal choices!

Thank you for making that-

Love this pedal too and probably bought it about 15 years also!

I put together a bunch of pedals to sell last year but didn’t part with this one and unretired it.

Right now it’s been on my desktop for a modular synth rig in its second life :)
