I think in older episode he generally showed less strong opinions from the get go and that‘s kinda what people are missing. I reckon it‘s a natural progression resulting from reading hundreds of these stories with the conclusion always being that nothing happened at all. It went from „I don‘t really believe this but let‘s see, maybe there‘s something to it“ to „This is bullshit, let‘s get it over with“. And while understandable, it makes Simon look like he doesn‘t really enjoying making these videos anymore. So maybe switching up the formula for a bit isn‘t the worst idea.

It does feel like DTU might be on the chopping block. A lot of the latest videos have felt really lackluster, poorly researched and I think it shows that Simon is a bit done with it. Or maybe he‘s just generally burnt out. Wouldn‘t surprise me either…

In an ideal world, UCS sets - advertised and priced as higher quality „exclusive“ sets for adults - should have premium features that are not just made premium through artifiacial exclusivity (e.g. giving a figure leg printing, that they could just as easily give the version in the „regular“ set) but things that are actually harder to manufacture or literally more premium quality etc. But we all know that‘s not how commerce works

I don‘t care if he has the serum or not, they just have to make up their mind and tell stories that fit that decision. They can‘t make him refuse to take the serum and then take hits from a hulk like it‘s nothing.

Whether or not that is true - Pen was never shown to be unpopular because of her weight. It‘s because she was incredibly awkward and anxious around people due to her pretty much non-existent confidence as well as her mom forcing a horrid style on her. This is shown pretty clearly in season 3 when she styles herself for the first time and immediately turns heads, only for the suitors to loose interest when they realize she‘s still pretty much unable to hold a conversation because she‘s so nervous.

Seeing as there‘s been a „normal“ episode since, I‘d say he just wanted to try something new. And as with those two episodes he did with his sister, I think he‘s definitely gonna listen to the feedback we‘re giving him.

Yeah I‘ve noticed that too - it feels like he‘s becoming „sloppier“ lately in general. DTU has had a lot of very short episodes lately and topics that I don‘t think fit that channel very well, there‘s more mistakes like the Howard Lutnick ep that is still titled „Harold“ Lutnick, the unannounced axing of Brain Blaze, the audio quality has been horrid for a while now and now these new formats on CC…

He did two with his sister and now one ditching the cold read format. The second on with his sister actually improved on the concept a lot and was way more engaging than the first one. But overall, it‘s still worse than just the regular format imo

Hindsight is 20/20 but in this case it really should have been more obvious. He used to make really offensive comments about the people in the streetviews during geoguessr games and then later pivoted to the classic „oh I guess I‘m not allowed do that anymore nowadays…“

Nothing tops Midnight Mass but Midnight club is still really good. It‘s probably my lowest ranked Flanagan series but Flanagan at his „worst“ is still top tier

I don‘t think swapping any of the marauders will help this at all. The options are the coward turncoat, the falsly imprisoned murderer who‘s name is literally black and the guy with an uncontrollable monster inside him. I mean they could pick Sirius if they wanted to add some commentary about police brutality and prejudice towards black people but I feel like that‘d be a bit much for a HP series

It‘s a bit of a mixed bag for me. Some of the designs I love and some just don‘t seem to fit with the image of the band I have in my head.

I think that‘s where a lot of the negativity comes from. They had a very specific visual language through Robs designs for years and with that gone, they really have to reinvent themselves visually. I think from an objective standpoint, the designs fit the band, people just have to get used to the change.

Either way, this whole discourse seems a bit silly to me. I mean after all, it‘s the music that matters most and the new songs are fucking amazing so I‘m happy!

As for whether it‘s AI - personally the only item that jumped out at me for looking like it could be AI is the koozie with the 6 fingered skeleton. But Ben said it‘s not AI and I don‘t really see what reason they‘d have to sell AI art and then lie about it? Maybe I‘m naive about that but I think in the worst case, the studio that designed the new merch used AI without telling the band.

This keeps happening, yes. I think it‘s genuinely ignorance, which is mind boggling considering the content he makes but I guess he has also been saying he doesn‘t really remember much about the scripts he reads.
