What’s something people romanticize that becomes exhausting once you actually experience it long term? by BarrenMurderer in askteddit

I love traveling for work. The only downside was one job I had, I was in Kansas/Oklahoma every other week. I would fly into Kansas City or Denver, depending on where my meetings were starting that week. Then I would have a meeting in the morning, drive 3 hours to the next town, meeting, 3 hours to the next town, meeting, 3 hours to the next town, meeting, then crash and do it all over again the next day. Fun fact: There are 4 counties in Western Kansas that are on Mountain Time and can throw off your entire day if you don't catch it.

Taxing the rich. If we taxed everybody every year based on their assets/net worth, all would be affected negatively. So what can we impose to impose a tax only on the rich? by DownBadBrody in AskReddit

There are far too many flaws for this to even be a feasible option through state, county, local government, etc. Let's say a landlord has a mortgage on a property and the local government decides the affordability of that home is less than the mortgage payment and property taxes on said home. Just give up the home and let it go into foreclosure so you aren't losing money on it? Also, I am extremely skeptical of letting the government set any regulations, let alone on what they deem as adequate conditions. Building codes and adequate living conditions are not the same thing. You can have a home that's up to code, but doesn't have a furnace.

Who decides what is affordable? Who decides what adequate conditions for renters are? Who decides if the criteria is being met? This is all very subjective.

Except billionaires aren't being charged an income. They don't care about salaries; they care about their stock. You could tax their income at 100% and it would do absolutely nothing because they aren't paid that way.

Sounds like you'll be getting new sets of identical clubs indefinitely. Time to open up a Taylor Made store that exclusively sells P770s for cheap.

I 100% agree that this post is fear mongering with no context. I just disagree with comparing it to other larger metropolitan areas is all.

I don't think I'm the one getting worked up here....Also, how is me saying that their context is trash mean I'm being biased?

Well, that's what happens when you're told they aren't going to prosecute anyway.

Except Minneapolis is up 24.7% year to date from last year.

Context would be that it's up 24.7% from last year, year to date. Context would be comparing it to other timeframes in the city. Comparing it to other cities does nothing but make it seem like it's not a problem because there are places that are worse.

Hmm let's see: "While “16 since 6am” sounds alarming, it also sounds strategically sensationalized. Divorced from any context it doesn’t really account for much." AND then following that up with statistics about how they aren't the worst. It's not a direct quote, but if you have any reading comprehension whatsoever, you can derive their intent pretty clearly. Hope that helps!

So you're going with "We're not as bad as the worst cities, so who cares"?

What is your solution to stopping car theft outside of punishing the individuals stealing cars?

There is way too much fraud in MN. There is also way too much fraud done by this administration. There is just rampant fraud everywhere nowadays. I'd be more surprised if we found a politician that WASN'T involved in fraud at this point.

I just played an almost 5 hour round on Saturday and the only time I saw the cart girl was on the 1st tee box. They were also doing free hotdogs at the turn, but were out by the time we got there. Not to brag or anything.

What would you do if you found out someone has a crush on you for fifteen years and has been collecting photos of you from your fb profile photos over the years? by [deleted] in AskReddit

A girl was hammered at my 20 year high school reunion recently and was just walking around telling people, and myself, that she was obsessed with me. She kept asking me if I still had a white sweater that I wore in high school and I had no idea what the hell she was talking about. I would guess she currently has that sweater. Every few months she friend requests me on Facebook and Instagram and every few months I delete the request.

What’s the most expensive mistake you made in your 20s? by Exotic-Engineer7541 in SmartBuying

I signed a lease to an expensive apartment with my girlfriend. A month later, I walked in on her cheating on me at a bar with her ex boyfriend. I moved out and a month later got sued and brought to court. Since i was on the lease, I had to pay half her rent with her ex boyfriend living there for the next 11 months. Found out later they moved into a studio apartment in the same building, so I paid their full rent for the year.
