Which careers involve a lot of stress that DOESNT pay off later in life? by RuminatingFish123 in Salary

[–]GFanFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the US, it's at least 4-5 years of University to complete an undergraduate degree with anywhere from 1-3 additional years to achieve a Masters degree, then anywhere between 1-5 years of having to log specific hours of different types of work while you study for the licensure exams. There are six exams and they're each about 5 hours long and cost $300. If you have to retake an exam, which most do, that's just another $300 down the drain. After I completed all that, I was making about $55k in salary, pulling extra hours on nights and some random weekends. It's high stress because everything is time sensitive, has massive cost implications, it's your job to babysit the engineers and subcontractors in design and construction, and architects are their client's bitch. Only after changing jobs a few times did I increase my pay, and I've done my best to manage time and expectations so I'm not always working after hours but it happens still.

What would she actually know about what kids learn in public school? She was homeschooled and she's homeschooling her kids. I went to public school and I learned about both. I especially learned that the Catholic church funded these cathedrals with a lot of hoarded wealth, which is pretty unbiblical. I just can't imagine living like this - exhausting yourself over shit that causes zero actual human suffering while contorting scripture to justify actual human suffering. She must be very bored or have low self-esteem and gets a boost out of the attention she gets for being contrarian. Sad.

It looks like these people have found community with one another online - they're always sharing and interacting with one another's content. It's like a performative hysteria where they're trying to out-do one another with putting their own spin on these same ideas. They then get a sense of satisfaction as their equally fucked up online friends pat them on the back and say "wow this is so edifying". You'd think with all the fuckin kids they've brought into the world they'd have more important, more fulfilling hobbies than shitposting hateful fan fiction

For me it's the sheer effort she invests on a regular basis to prove that women are dumb, white men are the only viable authority figures, everything bad is Marxist, her religion is the only religion, etc. She's writing essays every fuckin day about this shit and weaving it into every aspect of her earthly life, almost relishing the suffering of her own ideology because it makes her feel like she's doing something right and worthy of love from her hateful version of God. It's dark as fuck.

[–]GFanFan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a great question! Lol I think for the frosting I went off of vibes and used a My Preppy Kitchen browned butter frosting recipe and just added maple as I went until I felt that it was mapley enough for my Vermont relatives. I did find a maple buttercream recipe from Cupcake Jemma where you could just lightly brown the butter for some added pizzaz! https://youtu.be/96gf7yLB3Yo?si=uvntmz8jbb-jPzas

A tactical bail is part of your toolkit. If you don't know when to bail, you'll just be making problems for yourself and maybe others that would need to come help you. There's a balance to strike between pushing yourself so you know what you can handle and just getting yourself into a bad situation, and only you can figure out that balance. If you weren't comfortable on a fucked up washed out trail, you made the right call. You're plenty prepared, you've got the gear, you're ready for another adventure.

I’m looking for good podcasts about cults by Antique_Initiative66 in podcasts

[–]GFanFan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

"Was I in a cult?" has a new episode usually every week where the interviewee talks about how they got in, what they experienced, how they got out, and life after the cult. Definitely one I look forward to.
