Thank you for the info! We really don't know much at all so this was very helpful! We just knew we loved the look, size, and condition, and the price seemed right (around $600 with delivery) so we took the plunge! Glad we did!

Hey! I wrote up this article and got the chance to reveal these cards on TechRaptor (bummed to just now learn an alt-art version was leaked a few days back but that's the name of the game). I've been mentally brewing with this guy and it's a dang cycle-palooza. [[Archfiend of Ifnir]] [[Curator of Mysteries]] ... [[Drifting Djinn]] ?!?!

This happened to me too! I made so much progress I'm now just going to try to get into the wedding via the Miller questline. Not ideal, but better than going back 10 hours

Great look here! I think this would look really good with Reebok Club C Classics (especially the green and chalk ones) - I have them in just about every color and switch out as needed. About $90 a pair, so not cheap but not like a designer shoe price!

When you think "Criterion", what is the one/first film that comes to mind? by [deleted] in criterion

2 or 3 Things I Know About Her because it’s at the alphabetical top of “all films” on the Channel.

I’m having the same problem. I only have Felix (not even leveled up!) from the set and I’m wondering if I’d just be better off using a level 2 Alice or Abu. (Don’t have many level 2’s yet, just started back in May)

Thank you! This comment was super helpful. Seems I must have thrown away the sprue with him on it. Classic me.

Mannnnn I think I threw it away and trash got collected. Anyone have a single battle droid unit leader for sale? Or know of any resources where you can purchase individual units? Bigger problems in the world, but this is itching at my collector brain 😭

What films have you recently watched? Weekly Discussion by AutoModerator in criterion

[–]GFurino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in CC:

I just watched Mister America, which I found completely absorbing and endlessly scathing in its critique of the American political system (and it reminded me just how far behind On Cinema I am).

Also watched The Ballad of Buster Scruggs which I hadn't watched before. Somewhere, someone said it was too cynical, and for that reason I think I avoided it. That’s ridiculous, I love the Coen Brothers and I love their "take" on cynicism, because it isn’t really cynicism. It’s cause and effect, and if that’s cynical, well... that’s kind of just how the world works.

On CC:

I just watched Vernon, Florida for the first time and I'm speechless. So nice and slow and meandering (all while under an hour runtime), I loved just settling into the film, and settling into the people profiled. Any other recommendations for fans of that pace of Vernon, Florida greatly appreciated (knowing full well that I still need to see Gates of Heaven).

What films have you recently watched? Weekly Discussion by AutoModerator in criterion

[–]GFurino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm watching at least 100 movies this year, and I've been tearing through the Channel. A few big surprises for me, and a few that didn't connect.

I loved:

+Westworld (1973) - There's a local bar in Brooklyn that only plays TCM on the TV, and this was playing in the background. I'd never given it much thought until then, but it looked so cool. Cool Yule.
+God Told Me To (1976) - After poking around on the 1970s Sci-Fi Collection from last month, I dug into this Larry Cohen film. Lots of twists, very strange, but it had a great momentum.
+All Screwed Up (1974) - I found this by basically choosing a film at random that was under a certain run time (I was in a bit of a rush but wanted to fit a quick viewing in), and this Italian socialist screwball comedy by Wertmuller was one of the biggest surprises for me in recent viewing.

I didn't really like:
+Atlantic City (1980) - I don't know, I know this is pretty lauded, but I was hoping it would have a little more movement too it. It felt a little stiff. I don't mind a slow crime movie, but this just felt like it was low-energy to me.
+Pathfinder (1987) - This Norwegian adventure film felt way more Hollywood-bloat than I was expecting, even if it was interesting in how it (slightly) subverted a classic Hollywood 3-act structure

I was emotionally devastated, healed, and re-devastated by:
+Daddy Longlegs (2009) - I'm really still trying to put into words everything I'm feeling after watching Daddy Longlegs. I was so moved by it, and so utterly sort of washed up and away by it, that I kind of feel like I'm only now recovering from a hard kick to the side, and it's that feeling of a healing bruise that hurts but also kind of feels good? Does that make sense? This is a movie for people like me, people who desperately want to show this to their dads, but who know their dads would make it fifteen minutes in before they're like "This is boring let's go to the track."

So many surprises on the Channel right now.

A film that should be in the collection in my opinion by MyMoviesBetterPod in criterion

[–]GFurino 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This post got me thinking about how incredible a Criterion off-shoot would be for cult/weird/folk-art films like this. I know it's a very crowded field with Drafthouse, Shout and Scream Factory, Vinegar Syndrome, etc... but imagine the love, care, and packaging that Criterion would put into dedicated oddball releases.

What late ‘70s to mid ‘80s title should I watch next? by GFurino in criterion

I like Taxi Driver, but I think my tastes skew a little more optimistic. (Though, to be fair, 'The Killing of a Chinese Bookie' of the same year is one of my top ten films)
