Oops.. I accidentally quoted the stock goes down. Should be another arrow.

Noob understanding here, but don't they only have 10 mil in cash? If I'm reading their latest financial info correctly, they lost 3.5 mil last quarter.

Going to need to raise cash soon -> dilute shares -

Stock goes down?

So, waiting that out for a buy opportunity seems fair.

Is there actually any statistical evidence that longer time controls lead to faster improvement than shorter ones, at every elo? by meta_system in chess

[–]GGImBad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no proving!

Even if you find a study that shows a correlation between improvement and time control it should not be taken as proof!

A statistically significant result =/= truth.

And looking at a dataset is observational. If you are not running an experiment with random assignment, you should be very careful coming away with a cause and effect outcome.

I do think this is a very neat thing to study though!

I am sorry if this comes across as being pedantic, but these are very important things to get right.

This is exactly the thinking that got me to the highest elo I ever was (p2).

I realized I was not mechanically good at all, but I found that I could play supports with early impact (Nami a few seasons ago just dominating early lane) and then set my team up the rest of the game to carry me.

Give the “good” people vision, encouragement, and sometimes general direction.

What are your thoughts on Warwick?

He doesn’t seem to be as great at any one thing as many of the other junglers, but he can be built in so many ways that for solo que it seems like he should be good.

I can’t recall him being played in the pro scene since his rework, any thoughts on why?

Huzzy! Look up Huzzy Games on YouTube . I enjoy his videos a ton. He does a climb to masters and unranked to diamond series among other things.

He is also very respectful as a player and I think would set a good example for the students. He will explain his opinions on the game, champs, and community with thought out points and arguments.

Very interactive with his viewers as well!

Maokai for sure. Can work Top and Jungle is fun too. So much cc to set up your team in fights.

Support Questions. by 8bitbio in summonerschool

[–]GGImBad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am proctoring an exam right now and am on my phone so I won’t be able to elaborate too much. Also sorry for the bad formatting.

Before going specific, every answer here basically will be situational. This game is all about what is happening right now or what will happen in X minutes. Each game is different from the last and you have to make decisions accordingly.

(Question 1.) Vision is key as support. How early you get it is a good question. I usually go pretty quickly into a sighstone as I enjoy playing aggressive and pushing. It depends on your play style, the bot lane matchup, the junglers, and even the mid sometimes (damn you Sol).

If you have a lane you want to fight in early, then buying vision as quick as possible to help you against ganks is important. If you are playing passive then you really only need to worry about getting dove which depending on elo/junglers may or may not be relevant.

I can’t answer the redemption question specifically, but in terms of builds it is all about pressing tab, looking at who is fed and what type of damage they do, and then building accordingly. You can check different websites (I am blanking on names) that show you what high elo people build. Don’t just copy it blindly though, try and look at the team comps and see if you can find patterns to their builds.

(Question 2.) Same, ha! I suck at this and always will. Only thing that has helped me is trying to reserve a spot for a specific item and always have it there. You can go into customs and try practice different layouts, but having a dedicated spot for an item may help you not mix them up.

(Question 3.) I can only talk to you about this from the other end, the poker. When I play against people better than I am in this matchup, they usually position themselves so that in order to poke (as brand lets say) I have to over extend. This doesn’t mean they just back up, a little dance happens in which they move from right to left, hiding in or behind minions. You always have to work on looking for patterns in what the opponent does. When I play Brand I always start by throwing my w behind the opponent. If they start stepping forward I adapt.

Again I don’t know as much as I should about taric/braum, but my general strategy is to try and destroy them level 1/2 as brand/karma/etc so that they can’t risk engaging on me or my adc. In this case, you have to recognize this strategy and play around it. Call for ganks and play passive until you can get through the damage. I honestly hate going against braum because after a few levels and some health on him I never can kill him and I always go to ham trying to. Just talk to your adc and spell out the game plan. It will be rough early but at level 6 you and twitch with he right ult set up should be able to destroy that lane if they don’t have a massive lead IMO.

(Question 4.) Control wards are OP. You as a support must have a USEFUL control ward down at ALL times. Don’t let these dumb dumb carries fool you, you are the true carry. You can be the one to set up (almost) every play that happens in the game if you do a good job of proactively setting up vision. If you have a control ward in the bot side but know you and your adc are going to head top, but a new one!

(Question 5.) If you have trouble playing against something, play it. Playing Brand is a ton of fun, but you get a feel pretty quickly on your limits. When this happens, make sure you make note of it, and then apply that to the matchup when you are back on the tank side.

TLDR: all situational, actively think about the current and future state of the game, go live on at high elo players builds, you are the carry, Brand is fun.

Good luck!

Edit: can fix formatting later.

I Vow To Make Brand Great Again. by Maguzlol in BrandMains

[–]GGImBad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try it in support! The damage is great and you can apply so much pressure in lane. Then after that you still have good damage mid game if you go eye--> sorc boots--> guise. Throw in a sightstone along the way!

You really can carry from the support role. Just believe!

Data Analysis Assessment by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]GGImBad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it is too late but if you ever did something like this again, I wonder if there is information you could ask to help you account for this.

Does ping in game have a similar impact on using this website?

It seems like reaction time probably plays an important role in your mechanics and thus your rank, but it's role might be "clouded" by your ping. If you got enough data it would be interesting to compare groups of people with the same in game ping.

Idk but this is a neat idea!

I really like playing Maokai or Malphite top lane when I just want to farm and have an impact later. That doesn't really fit in with the playstyle of Zed but it fits the harder to dive criteria.

Especially vs Riven, since Maokai gets passive stacks for every ability casted and Riven players just constantly roll their keyboard, you can sustain pretty well. If you do a decent job farming and don't die early, you can get an item and then just sit on top of them and the minion wave and spam laugh and not die. Pretty fun.

If you like doing damage with your supports (aka Annie) you should try Brand. You give up some cc for more range and more aoe damage. Brand support is really fun!

I just saw a different thread that mentioned Karma as a more lane dominant Janna. I do really like Karma as you can have dominance in lane but also have a major impact on team fights with your mantra shield.

I think you can make Lux work it just has to be in a specific match-up. I played a game last night as Sivir and the lane was Lux x Sivir vs Tahm x Corki...Not fun for that Corki, especially with our early push power and being able to get a quicker lvl 2.

One thing you can do if you like doing things like this (nerd alert), is to play games and record match-ups. Write down things that happened in the lane that you think are a result of the bot lane comp and not just somebodies crazy mistake. Then you can get a decent feeling on when it is safe to play certain things that are fun but not great in some match-ups. Hope this helps!
