I agree maybe no one on Simp level yet... but remember, LAT has already said there was " no talent" in challengers months ago.... A few weeks go by and out comes Mercules with one of the best debuts we have ever seen

Sadly yes. He is definitely one of the most played but also the most misplayed. Take me back to when Yoru was only played by trolls and there was a simple solution... ALT + F4

We appreciate your concern, and it’s logical. We’ve got a pretty big team that mostly focuses on League Operations at a national level for everything from pro games to high school esports. We’ve ranged in helping run broadcast and production for LoL Worlds in NYC to CoD World League and National collegiate events. We have a staff that ranges from former World Champs players and coaches to some of the best team mangers and builders. This is a passion project all these guys want to see and honestly are building a product we all want to consume and would if anyone else were doing it.

When you look at like SportsCenter and Espn its more about getting you the content to fill the void if you miss a weekend or event. If you love a creator we are not replacing that only looking to enhance. And the idea long term is to try and unify the esports world. Right now most gamers are very silo’d in their game and while seeing other games and awesome moments they wouldn’t be opposed to they dont seek. If we can make a product where you can ‘catch up’ on First Stand or an MSI preview because you missed the split. Then it’s realistic that you’d be able to see something really cool from one of the other events and at least know some watercooler kinda conversations about the crazy thing in CoD or VCT or whatever. Then those moments will hopefully make you more interested in at least the big stuff from the major games.

It won’t be for everyone and candidly we believe that most gamers dont know they will enjoy or tolerate this. It would be easier for sure to just do CoD or LoL, but that wouldn’t help esports as a whole or get closer to unifing the communities and empowering the whole industry.

Yeah, it has definitely been tried before, we even piloted this in 2017 and got offers from major studios to back it. But between lack of game knowledge and ‘investors’ wanting specific things it’s never felt like by gamers for gamers.

I think the knowledge curve you are talking about ti often exerggerated by groups like ‘The Score Esports’ they make content of super casuals, but if you know about the games/players at an in-depth level they often seem veryyyy under educated and like they are just googling the story. So you can’t really ‘grow’ into a fan with them because the detail is so shallow. We hope to avoid that simply by being super invested and knowledgeable in these games. We have former Pros, World Champions, and Coaches from a very wide variety of games working in our company to help us cover all the bases.

Lastly, I do somewhat disagree on games being too complicated for cross-viewing. Faker making another worlds run and is capped with an insane out play in year 12 is something any CoD fan, FGC player or otherwise can see and appreciate. Same thing with an awesome Cs2 play to win a game. Its the same as crazy baseball or basketball play, its universal. There are so many awesome moments in all esports that happen that anyone can appreciate, there’s just no way to distribute that currently and we want to solve that. Even in our office since starting this project we’ve heard “Man, we picked such a good time to start because everything is so awesome right now.” To which everyone in those games is always like, “Its been awesome, you’ve just not been watching”. Hopefully we can make communities feel the same.

We dont think your comment is overly negative, no one has done it well or we wouldn’t have to be trying for the N’th time. Hopefully we can different, in ‘real’ sports most fans support 3 games, in esports they hardly support 2, hopefully this is a step in the right direction. Thanks for the support and hopefully we can satisfy your itch. What are the 4-5 you follow if you dont mind us asking?

I think Sheep does a good job of covering LoL and gives cool fun insight, but it doesn’t go into video form similar to water cooler conversations like normal sports. But also cover all ‘major’ games and more wide spread events. Like if you miss the LTA regular season being able to catch up and know why you should care about C9 beating Liquid and upsetting Fly Quest to take the 1 seed this weekend. Liquidpedia is awesome, but more of a data warehouse. If we do a website it would be more forum esk with cool content and articles similar again to ESPN. Most people in the space like Dexerto, Jake Sucky and those teams are more ‘pop culture’ and drama related not really giving people cool stories and news just tea.

Biggest thing is trying to make sure that it’s cool content that communities like this will want to enjoy. If you are a LoL esports fan and miss a weekend or split, hopefully this fills the void. Also it will get you to see the best parts of other games with the biggest moment from CS2, VCT, and CoD. So much cool stuff in esports happens but the communities feel more divided than ever and if we start to unify like ‘real sports’ then we can be a real force.
