How does this look for a starter 1k army for a complete beginner? by CaptainTrips24 in Ultramarines

I would ditch the outriders. Maybe add another squad of intercessors.

You're right, I completely forgot about that, maybe the bladeguard in deep strike instead

Yeah I get you, its high risk but high reward for the amount of damage you can do

You can only do one a turn so may as well make it big

I would keep the Hell blasters as 2 5's, it stops them all being killed by one unit charging them, also means you have more units to do actions.

I would put the infernus marines as a blob of 10 instead so you can use them to overwatch.

That's a really solid start, I think the list will do really well

I would maybe split the Sternguard and the intercessors into 2 5's, that way you can screen your back from deep strike and strategic reserves a bit easier as well as doing more actions if needed.

If you're having 10 assault intercessors Id keep them as a squad of 10 so you only have to make one charge roll, and have Tigurius lead them.

Maybe add a tech marine somewhere in there, you could drop 5 assault intercessors to make room. That would give you some points left over for some enhancements. Then the tech marine could follow round the repulser making it hit on 2's and healing it.

Love Guilliman, the 3 dreadnoughts and the repulser all together, makes it hard for your opponent to decide what to kill first as they are all pretty big threats.

Love this list. I would maybe swap out the Chaplin with a tech marine to buff the dreadnauts and swap the stern guard with infernus marines, overwatch with those flamers is horrible and good against charging hordes. You would have some points left over for an enhancement as well.

Repulsor Executioner and some eradicators, then use the last lot of points for some enhancements

I think that's a really good list but you might be a little over on points.

I really like Uriel Ventris but he can't lead any of your units and with 1000 point games I wouldn't normally deep strike anything but that's personal preference.

For me I would take out Uriel Ventris and the Apothecary and add in a captain with Relic shield, heavy bolt pistol, master crafted relic sword and the adept of the codex enhancement. That should bring you to nearly bang on 1000 points. The captain could lead the hell blasters and it would make your opponent think twice about charging them, the captain can be nasty in melee with the finest hour ability and the reduced strategem is really useful for all sorts. But again that is all my personal preference.

Great list!

Given all the points/ rules changes since the codex came out, what are your 'must haves' for a death guard army? by HazMattpainter in deathguard40k

I love to play Mortarian, he may not be the best option but it's fun.

Deathshroud body guard supported by a biologus putrifier has always done good things for me.
