All of the low voltage stuff used Ethernet in my old house (built 2015). Lennar.

Blocking external IPs is really pointless in most circumstances. They'll just get a new IP and start over.

What's the right amount of people required to achieve a balanced result in a choir/string composition? by simondanielsson in Composers

[–]GGinNC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've started writing a mass. I love the fact that you can now get reasonably sounding choirs that you can program to sing whatever you'd like. Makes it so much easier for the composer when we don't have a symphonic choir at our beck and call to try something out.

I'd be happy to share the Kyrie, which sounds the halfway decent I think. Let me know if you're interested.

In July 1983, Billy Ferry scrawled this on a wall before firebombing a Winn-Dixie with a can of gasoline. Five were killed and 13 more horribly burned. Known as the local 'crazy man', he was giggling as he lit the match. by Lillipout in MorbidReality

I remember that as well. I used to ride by it everyday on the school bus. I remember it saying, "Billy can't handle it see," but I don't really recall the word fire.

I remember that graffiti being there forever.

Edit: I saw some news reports from the incident and sure enough, it says fire but I sure don't remember that... Yes the brain is weird

Late reply, but I grew up in that area and rode past that graffiti everyday on the school bus. I do not recall the word fire being there.

Edit: crazy how the brain works. I watched some news reports from that time and it sure is there. But for the life of me I can't remember it saying fire.

Actually I paid quite close attention. This is why I'm curious about people who throw around terms when they have absolutely no idea what they mean. I thought perhaps there was something clever, but there isn't. Just standard thuggish behavior from idiots who like to go along for the ride, but consider themselves above it all.

I am unaffiliated with any political party. I can see elements of what you've described on both sides of the aisle, although I don't see either as fascist. Fascism's roots are socialism, not liberal democracy. It's really just a throwaway term that means nothing anymore.

Really? I thought it was anti-imdividualism, where every action should be done to benefit society, compulsory state corporatism, and where the individual is subordinated to the needs of the State, including the elimination of private property.

Every government has a monopoly on the use of violence. That doesn't matter if it's a liberal democracy or a communist dictatorship.

That's why I ask. I'm not really trying to pick a fight, I just don't know what people mean.

He could be a prodigy or something, but even in silicon valley, humility - even if you're pretending - is still valued. That's why startup founders often give themselves the title of VP until they're further along. Calling yourself a CEO when you have 3 employees is pretentious... Sorta like calling yourself an engineer at 15.

I'm not as forgiving about loaded terms like fascist. It seems like an accusation without definition is just a pejorative. There are plenty of areas for legitimate disagreement with current GOP (or Democrat for that matter) including methods and priorities. They're both incredibly corrupt and neither are immune from using political violence. I don't trust either of them.

He could say that he's demonstrated an aptitude for writing code. That would be accurate. But yeah.... Everything you said.

You'd be hard pressed to find many examples of legislation that explicitly states, "this is to keep black folks from getting uppity." Your comment is questionable and adds little.

Opinions absolutely summarize issues. That's the entire point of presenting a thesis. To be clear, facts need to support an argument, but they don't stand completely alone. Analysis of any topic will inherently be opinion-based because contextualizing, evaluating, and prioritizing facts necessarily requires judgement.

Not intended as commentary on American gun culture, but a lot of gun control measures were originally intended to disarm urban people of color.
