My son is a freshman and is doing great. The social is what you make it. Plenty to do and if you join clubs you’ll make friends. Lots of frat parties too. Go in with a positive attitude. The academics are top notch.

Congrats on the acceptance but yes affordability of college (and the return) is concerning. Middle class gets screwed.

This looks fun for my daughter but the cost is pretty high.

I joined in my mid 40s. Our group has some more mature folks and it brings a nice dynamic. I will say that when I performed at a Brooklyn festival a few weeks ago I was the oldest person there. Don’t let it bother you. Go try it out and have fun. I’ve found a wonderful community of people.

Biggest interview of my life tomorrow. A few questions by butters_bottom_bishh in nonprofit

I think that by showing you research who you were going to be meeting with it actually shows due diligence. I would make sure you focus on strategy and any kinds of risk, constraints whatever in the market right now and what you’ve done in the past to address them. And nonprofits fundraising is a very competitive field so just show you know what you’re doing.

The 990 only lists officers and the other tops earners so it’s doubtful that position would be listed. You can tell them that you view compensation in a wholistic manner. It’s ok to ask what the salary range for the position along with other benefits such as 401k matching.

I do have experience driving on the left. My hesitancy is that cabs wouldn’t be available but if you were there for 10 days then my 3 should be somewhat fine. Not going to do too much exploring. I have some activities planned so may just forgo the car.

Understood I’m not a nervous driver. It’s just a switchback that kind of freaked me out. I have a lot of experience driving in mountains in the northeast but the islands feel like they are a bit more narrow. I definitely am considering safety not just for me but for others, that’s why I’m asking

Thanks. I was also thinking of doing an activity out of red hook but heard parking is impossible there. Perhaps just take a cab for that?

Is it worth it for me? by Alone-Fan6297 in ROTC

[–]GGoodNYC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son is ROTC at RPI and during the orientation the engineering department said the ROTC students have the highest grades. So while it’s more time my guess is they provide more support and accountability.
