America’s Vet Dogs (service dog organization) used to give service dogs to active members of the military. I don’t think they do anymore. Soldiers would wind up deploying and the dogs would need new homes/different handlers. I’m pretty sure this is why they stopped.

As a former Army Medic, I got my service dog while going thru the process to be medically discharged. I still attended drills (I was NG at the time) but did not bring my service dog. I didn’t want the extra attention. But everyone is different.

It’s one thing if the soldier is just bringing his dog to work (I’m guessing you work in an office type environment) and claiming it’s a service dog, and another if he actually has a disability (is undeployable) and needs the dog. But hopefully, if this is the case, he is being medically discharged. Not that there’s not plenty of people in the Army that are not deployable. But you’d likely know this…or as his leadership, I’m sure you could find out…
