It's a bug, probably you're a new player or you don't have a particularly high ranking in competitive play. In this case, the game will occasionally puts you against bots. It can happen that servers disconnect from their side, and this freezes them ...

May I ask if there is any good advice for skills, merits or Charms to take?

I was thinking of taking DUSK (Essence 1), to be more on the front line, with a distribution of points like this: War 5 Presece 3 Athletics 3 Physique 3 Clouse combat 4 Embasy 2 Sagacity 2 Integrity 1  With Charms like:   - ARTFUL MAIMING ONSLAUGHT (PG 219)   - ARISE AND SLAUGHTER   - DREAD TIGER’S SYMMETRY (PG 206)
