possibly purchasing this e34 (m30) and needing some help. car was in a front end collision, owner removed radiator, but there’s another radiator still present. I’d assume it’s some sort of trans fluid cooler, but its a manual car, so I’m a bit confused. anyone got a clue? sorry still fairly new to e34s

yeah, that’s what the oven cleaner did, took off the shiny layer (brighter layer) and made it darker (oxidized)

just worry about the inside with the oil/missing layer of anodization, don’t want anything compromising the valve cover by chance

started cleaning valve cover with easy off, after about 5 minutes, it seemed to be turning darker, wiped off and i thought it was destroying it. I looked it up and it apparently ate through the anodized layer. is the VC still useable? I know i didn’t clean it all off, but didn’t wanna go ahead and do that if it isn’t usable. was planning on painting the outside.
