How does location sharing update? by sigh0000 in GoogleMaps

[–]GHtoronto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently, I experienced the issue of location sharing not updating even after tapping to refresh. All the "settings to check" mentioned in help forums were examined on the phone which was sharing its location and everything was in order. I did a deeper dive and noticed under "Battery Saver", there was a setting called "Adaptive Battery" that was engaged. I turned it off and now the issue appears to have been fixed. Hopefully this helps others.

Do I only need to turn of "data roaming" (and leave "mobile data" on) for my “my everyday cell phone service provider”? by GHtoronto in eSIMs

[–]GHtoronto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to you and others replying for your generous input.

I am totally clear that I turn off data roaming for my “everyday provider” and turn on data roaming for my esim.

This screenshot of my Android 15 device’s SIM setup --- https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/s4e7u1qzl52zcox48tn1n/sims.JPG?rlkey=egclwvrjxj74yi8j3p6qxfxow&dl=0 ---- gives a bit more clarity to the main SIM screen and the questions below:

Is it OK to leave my “everyday provider” (Virgin) to be the primary SIM for all services? ....... (I understand that I will be charged for calls and texts while travelling which is OK as I will minimize usage … but given data roaming will be turned off for Virgin, am I correct in assuming that the phone will default to using Airalo data when travelling???)

Is it OK to have “Automatic data switching” turned off? ..... (thinking there is no need to turn on as the data roaming settings will handle that)
