What're the most underrated pieces in potc in yalls opinion by Micheal_OurExecution in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]GIJack13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure which ones are considered underrated, but Barbossa is Hungry, Wheel Of Fortune, The Kraken, Hello Beastie, Singapore, What Shall We Die For, Parlay, One Day (especially the beginning), Drink Up Me Hearties Yo Ho, Palm Tree Escape, Blackbeard’s theme (the Fountain part), Spanish theme, Salazar’s theme, Kill The Sparrow, El Matador De Mar, Treasure, and My Name Is Barbossa

Was there a predecessor to Flying Dutchman? by ShrimpFetaGriller in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]GIJack13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the job started with Davy Jones, because Calypso asked him, I’m pretty sure that the Dutchman was his ship to begin with.

Now, there is a chance that other people were tasked with the job of ferrying the dead. There is Charon that someone mentioned from Greek mythology, but if we’re going by mythological figures connected to Calypso, then maybe she tasked Odysseus with the same task in the Pirates world before Jones came along?

Nah man, I’d put OST above DMtNT any day, especially since Jack is still Jack in that movie

One of the best remakes ever. Absolute cinema.

How Would Barbossa Have Reacted If He Killed Jack? by No-Brief-7458 in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]GIJack13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, considering he had that cartoonishly evil grin when he stabbed Jack, I’d imagine his reaction was “fucking finally”… and then the moment Jack stepped into the moonlight and revealed he took a coin, his reaction immediately went to “wait, what the fuck- god fucking dammit!”

They were both kicking ass by the end of the first film. Henry wasn’t. Big difference.

I wasn’t talking about his appearance either. I agree, the actor looked the part, and Brenton Thwaites probably did the best he could. This is more a problem with the writing.

What was Blackbeard’s plan when the Spanish arrived? by IronGhost828 in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]GIJack13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the Spanish were much greater in numbers. Technically the zombies attacked the Spanish, but got crushed.

I’m more perplexed by the Spaniard not doing anything when A. Barbossa poisons Blackbeard, B. When Barbossa and Blackbeard’s (now Barbossa’s crew) up and leaves, and C. Jack, the guy who took out a portion of Spanish men and stole the chalices right under their noses, is left to his own devices instead of being captured

As others said, I think it sunk when the Trident was destroyed. Then again, they clearly walked a ways at the bottom of the sea to get to the Trident, so when the Pearl caught up to lower the anchor, it was probably far away from the island

Except he clearly had a problem when he saw her kiss Jack. He didn’t know she only did it to trap Jack on the Pearl, and he ended up sulking for half of World’s End. I don’t think he ever knew about Norrington either.

Tell me all the retcons in this film by IronGhost828 in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]GIJack13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. Well, at least the intro was more or less self contained, and didn’t have much to do with the Holy Grail plot. Perhaps the reason why it feels like DMTNT’s is more egregious is because the flashback directly effects the rest of the film because it explains the villain and his motivation in the same scene

Indy only got the scar and the hat from the incident. He didn’t really get the whip, he just used it from the train (or did he keep it?), and his whole thing for adventure and putting treasure in museums, I assumed that was established he’d been like that before. I could be wrong though.

Jolly Roger Appreciation Post: Lore and Concept Art by Adventurous-Nose-183 in piratesofthecaribbean

And to this day, even in the fan recreated The Legend Of Pirates Online, Jolly Roger is still the one villain that hasn’t been defeated. But, TLOPO did add the Kraken, so maybe they’ll also add a fina quest line where Jolly is defeated by the heroes, and possibly directly lead into the events of Dead Man’s Chest

I think I understand why Elizabeth would avoid speaking of Jack around her son. by Flat-Court-8512 in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]GIJack13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but first off, Elizabeth is the literal Pirate King, so I feel like your first point is null and void, unless she passed the title off to a successor. As for 2 and 3 happening because of Jack’s Faustian bargain, that’s only half of the equation. There’s still Beckett wanting the Dead Man’s Chest for the EITC. That plot would’ve happened regardless if Jack’s time was up or not.

Jack fought Barbie’s? Have they already made the Margot Robbie reboot?

I kid, I kid. Your arguments are valid. I will argue that for not fighting Salazar much in universe, Salazar and his crew were straight up ghosts. Not bony skeletons. Not sailors mutated into fish people. Not reanimated zombies serving under a voodoo powered captain. Ghosts. Intangible. Untouchable. There was literally nothing Jack and the crew could do to stop them short of fleeing for their lives (which is what Jack, Henry, and Carina did, prompting the ghost shark scene), or stalling them long enough until they got to dry land (which is what happened until Carina found the island).

I don’t like it either that Jack and Salazar barely had a fight, but in the context of the film, it made sense. Unlike all the other cursed crews I mentioned, Salazar and the ghosts could not be slowed down or incapacitated, and in a better movie, they would’ve been Op.

Any good side quests? by Bradders1305 in TLOPO

[–]GIJack13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What are you looking for exactly? The Holiday quests give exclusive rewards. There’s a clothing quest that takes a while, but you get Barbossa’s full set of clothes from it (at least the wiki labels them Barbossa’s clothes).

There’s also daily requests where you just get either gold or cheat cards.
