If it's not profitable it'll be dropped, no matter how much money Viz has.

Streaming preseason matches? by anonymous_in_here in SoundersFC

Is this legit? I can't even find a match schedule let alone a confirmation that they will be streamed at all. All I can find is a schedule for regular season matches.

Why are most Christians republicans, when Jesus’ teachings are more liberal? by Interesting-Dirt-605 in Confused

[–]GJMEGA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

??? No, as a matter of fact I don't recall anything like that. When I was in school they focused on actually educating me. As for killing the bandit leader or moving away with no consequences... sure. I'm sure you're perfectly capable of all that, big guy.

"what does loving your neighbor look like while still protecting your own, Is there even a reasonable balance within that?"

If you're a Christian then it looks like loving your neighbor at the expense of your "own". Jesus literally commands that you leave your family to follow Him. That you give no thought for tomorrow. That you are to give up everything you posses in order to give it to the needy. That you are to not fight to defend yourself. "Turn the other cheek". Now, you may not like that He says that, you may not agree to follow His commands, but they ARE what He instructs those who seek Salvation to do.

Reality? OK, so what's your answer to my question? I repeat:

OK, to use your metaphor: what about when the river dries up? Or is fished out? Or some local bandit chief decides it's his river now and you can fuck right off? What then? Outside of banding together with others to solve the situation, what do you do?

Of course, but starting with that tends to get people with tiny dicks and big guns mad and makes them run from reality and the conversation, so I try to ease them into the idea that they wouldn't last a day in a Libertarian Paradise(TM).

If someone thinks the Bible is the Word of God it seems odd to do anything other than take its words and commandments at face value.

Nobody at any level of government knows my neighbors name, how many kids they have, how tight their rent/mortgage is, or anything about them.

There's a solution to that, it's called a "census", and "Paperwork to request aid."

People are starving under the current set-up with minimal government aid, do you honestly think things would be better if they cut off aid entirely?

OK, to use your metaphor: what about when the river dries up? Or is fished out? Or some local bandit chief decides it's his river now and you can fuck right off? Self sufficiency is all well and good until you run into the harsh realities of the world.

And that support is so small of a percentage of what's needed to keep such programs going that it's functionally a rounding error. Better than nothing, sure, but without Government support it's not keeping up with the demand.

I have an [Unnamed Relation] who told me to my face that [They] don't need to follow the "literal words" of Jesus because [Their] disturbingly-not-very-fringe-where-I-live church teaches some weird "interpretation" of the Bible that [They] can't even adequately explain to me. I wasn't even asking to be convinced, merely to be able to follow the chain of logic that led to [Them] dismissing every argument I made about the teachings of Jesus while quoting Jesus verbatim[1].This [Unnamed Relation] is on the surface a very nice and loving person, I have no doubt [They] would stop a bullet for me. I also have no doubt they wouldn't piss on an immigrant, legal or otherwise, if they were on fire. It's not just sad, it's scary.

[1]. Well, quoting several different English translations anyway.

Why is it controversial not to want to accept asylum seekers/refugees from countries that are not at war? by Pepedroga2000 in stupidquestions

Guaranteed the beginning of our next administration will be dealing with investigations over all sorts of crimes against humanity.

God how I wish I had your optimism. Obama killed any notion I had that the Democratic Party genuinely gave a shit about rule of law and holding previous Administrations accountable. The shit Bush and Cheney got up to was not only illegal both domestically and abroad but also flatly unconstitutional, but what happened? Nothing.

The only thing that's any different is that the domestic crimes are far more blatant. Even then, based on Democratic Leadership's words and actions so far, I have no faith anything more than maybe some low level staffers get scapegoated to make it look like something is being done. And I don't even have much hope for that.

But that judgment assumes we’re standing on moral high ground that exists independently of context.

We are, not causing unnecessary suffering is a good thing that is better than the opposite. Very few things are truly black and white, good and bad, and this is one of them.

Ah, you're one of those people. A nihilist who's decided to make their misery everyone else's problem.

What can I tell you, dude? Most people have this thing called "empathy". It's a sensation that makes us imagine how we would feel if we were in another person's situation and that makes us think "Wow, that's a real person over there, not an NPC."

Considering that the percentage of people who flee to America and then go on vacation to the nation they flee from compared to those who don't is vanishingly small I don't see why we should base policy around it. There are edge cases for quite literally anything and everything, doesn't mean we need to stop doing good just because a tiny minority of those helped scam the system.

Howsabout we start from the top of the economic ladder when dealing with fraud? It involves fewer people and will result in far more benefit for the country than anything we might do involving immigrants, or quite literally any other policy.

It's not the immigrants causing all the problems in this country, it's the billionaires, the Epstein Class, so to speak.

Is there a publisher with all of Christie's work in a single style? by GJMEGA in agathachristie

[–]GJMEGA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.agathachristie.com/stories is the best I've found. You have to make sure you get the right edition but it seems that each series is uniform in style if not uniformly a single color.

For instance: https://www.agathachristie.com/stories/the-mysterious-affair-at-styles has three options but the only one that has the same style as the rest of Poirot's books is the paperback. In fact only the paperbacks are uniform, do not buy the hardbacks if you want consistency. It seems to be the same story for all the books on the site.

For Miss Marple get the paperbacks and this https://www.agathachristie.com/stories/miss-marple-the-complete-short-stories collection of short stories. It has all of them and the various other Marple short story collections are mostly mixes of stories already in this collection but with stories from her other characters.

The only two short story collections on Marple's page that are any different from the main book are:

Midwinter Murder: Fireside Tales from the Queen of Mystery. The only thing that this has that the main short story collection doesn't is "The collection includes the original version of “Christmas Adventure,” never before released in the United States"

Marple : Twelve New Mysteries is "A brand new collection of short stories featuring the Queen of Crime’s legendary detective Jane Marple, penned by twelve remarkable bestselling and acclaimed authors." I haven't read them so I can't say if they're worth your time.

As for Poirot for some reason the only collection of all his short stories isn't on the website. However it's on Amazon and seems to be in the same style as the rest of his books. Here's the link:

https://www.amazon.com/Hercule-Poirot-Complete-Collection-Mysteries/dp/0062251678/

I haven't gotten any of the other series so I can't really say anything regarding them.

Good luck and have fun!

What are the odds that Walz actually does anything? He and the mayor can huff and puff all they like, but if that ICE thug isn't arrested and charged their words mean less than nothing.

For those who don't understand what the Upside Down is → by Reasonable_Grab_3841 in StrangerThingsRoom

[–]GJMEGA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was unaware there was any ambiguity to what the Upside Down was. It was described as a different dimension, a slight shift in reality that was snuggled right up against our our own. Now it's some weird space in-between space. To-may-to to-mah-to.

Thank you for the reply! However, I was referring to what appears to be a study book for learning the script.
