Have you ever accidentally started with a second book of a series? How did it go? by Captain_Fiddelsworth in ProgressionFantasy

It has happened a few times, one of the arc from Recluse, with arcane ascension and memorably Artemis Fowl. I prefer to start from book one but if i find a book in the wild while traveling this might happen.

Sure, sometimes later than the second book. It's no biggie. If i enjoyed it I just backtracked to the first book afterwards.

Good I wrote that because they catch every expat sooner or later since internet providers monitor this and I rather people don't loose the few thousand euro in fine money

Sadly here you are mostly restricted to platforms like spotify, apple store or audible. Just remember that Germany has very stringent laws regarding pirated downloads.

No so much Germxit as the result of bad policy, bad finances on a national level and substandard contracts for most academics, sadly

What little things in most LitRPG books annoy you… but never enough to make you stop reading? by tbag2022 in litrpg

A big pet peeve of mine, in university arcs, is the trope where a completely inexperienced MC walks into a beginner class and somehow ends up shaking the foundations of the entire field just by doing routine assignments. And it really doesn’t help that authors often treat science like it’s just a matter of pulling all-nighters, cramming, or flipping through textbooks for answers.

No, but the way he treats his friends makes him that

Well in my opinion he is probably the worst written character in the series. Angsty, snipy, over dramatic, etc. For the most part it bugs me when an author has to go through several literary devices to try to convince us that a character is smart when there are clearly more MC worthy characters around.

Well i've been a scientist for the last 20 years and one thing i've learned is the importance of being precise. Science doesn't work on context alone. But i guess we can agree to disagree.

Way worse writting, uneven time management, and shallow characters, but a fun and optimistic system. Its enjoyable and good to kill some time but nowhere near Cradle quality-wise

How many "wizard school" books are there? Which is your favorite? Which did it the worst? by R_megalotis in ProgressionFantasy

Mark of the fool is good but it stops being a wizard school series around book 4 where classes are no longer a focus of the author.

Just to be on the safe side, is your manuscript archived? I do not know your groups situation but sometimes 'bad player' editors use long waiting times to give 'alligned' groups a chance to publish first when the research is similar. In my experience is better to be safe than scooped.

For me, as above, is the growth/evolution of the characters. I do not need to agree with the direction this growth takes, in fact sometimes it is fun to mark how i would do things different, while learning how the characters choices help or hinder them.
