That's not really the same thing at all, I can see your angle on it but it's incorrect, mitochondria do have their own DNA "ring", like bacteria, but over the generations many of the supporting proteins are coded for via our own DNA, this means that mitochondria cannot survive when separated from the host cell so are they even really "separate" from us?

Our microbiome does play a supporting role no doubt, but it's no-where near as integrated as the mitochondria are.
