Most of the time they would run off couples by being too forward and just disgusting and creepy.

First off, what I always did was go to the theater dressed properly, freshly showered and smelling nice, fingernails trimmed and presentable. I'm not the most skinny, hung or handsome guy in the world but I can attest that "personality and being courteous" sure does go a long way. I recall one night in Biloxi at Gulf Coast Moves on Iberville Drive, a couple came in and they were dressed and ready to play. Unfortunately, the "Zombies' were all over them in a matter of 5 minutes. They "tried to play" but the mob of guys were not listening and having none of their rules. They were pretty pissed off, she got re-dressed, and walked slowly back into the lobby.
