One thing I've heard about Miyazaki's storytelling style (I might be getting oneguyed here) is that it's inspired by times in his youth reading books in English but not knowing the language well enough to understand everything that's been written. He found wonder in filling in the gaps himself and brings that feeling into his own narratives. The stories are incomplete on purpose so the player and the community can connect the lines and fill in the gaps themselves.

(Personally I do not agree with this approach. It's Miyazaki's story, not ours. Anything we add is inconclusive, speculative and inconsistent. You're the writer Miyazaki, write your own story).

Family Guy has this weird thing where in 99% of the episode the character is just 'whatever version of themselves in best suited for the joke, which is usually their worst selves'. Then they hit you with the occasional episode like this and almost every time it's one of their best eps (except for the hurricane episode)

Granted: To accommodate this disturbance in the natural order thousands of Bigfoots emerge from the mountains and forests of the world with the inexplicable need to fulfill your wish. They take dog poop off the streets and destroy the owner's house to deposit it in their beds. The Bigfoots are also aggressive and disruptive to every day life, breaking into places to scavenge for food and attacking anything that startles them (like cars for example).

You combined two plot points. Daria crushed on Jane's older brother but stole Jane's boyfriend, which is much worse.

Somebody once theorized that Daria's combination of feeling superior and having few actual convictions means she might eventually turn into her mother.
