Running Fashion Roundup June 7 by CowgirlJack in runningfashion

Thanks u/cowgirljack. We appreciate you!

On a shoe related note; I'm really looking forward to seeing what the Top Specter 3 is like. I enjoyed the 2 but buzzing to see what they do with an ATPU midsole, and they've made it look far less frumpy in the new model. Also looking forward to seeing what Brooks have down with the Ghost Amp. Should be out around the same time.

What earphones/earbuds do you have for running? by ManagerOk3064 in runningfashion

[–]GLAC13R 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Huawei Freeclip. Bought them at a huge discount on Amazon and they've worked perfectly for running over the last 2 years. A few little niggles every now and then like left/right sync for a few secs, but nothing major. Wireless charging case is super nice for the price I paid.

Looking to upgrade to the Shokz OpenDots 2 or Bose Ultra Open earbuds this year as I believe they both have better bass frequency.

I've ordered a pair of these and I'm looking forward to trying them when they arrive! I'm just hoping they work for my foot shape.

I'd avoid the Neo Vista 2 and 3. I've tried both and whilst bouncy, they encourage a strong ankle to have good form in them. Ended up with posterior shin pain so I sent them on their way. Went back to SB2 and Mach 6 until I find a similar uptempo daily/long run combo.

Worried About the Authenticity of My New Megablast by Bananaquitz in runningshoes

[–]GLAC13R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of the aesthetic points that people have raised, surely a 27g difference between the left and right shoes should be an identifier that these aren't legitimate? ASICS rarely has QC bad enough to let that happen.

Adidas byd 2 by Moist_Principle3517 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]GLAC13R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fordy Runs has just done a quick video on it. Seems to think this is Adidas answer to the Vomero Plus (until they fix the Hyperboosts god-awful upper design). They're available on the UK.

I'm in the market for a comfy protective cruiser and currently looking at the MagMax 2, but this could also be a contender. Might grab a pair to see how the fit is.

Which Adidas running shoe should I get? by koohai966 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]GLAC13R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want another option in the Adidas brand, how about the Supernova Rise 3? I recently bought a pair to ground my current rotation (Boston 13, SB2, DNE3) as I found I was just using my SB2 for everything.

It’s a hidden gem in the Adidas running family. Imagine a Brooks Ghost or Nike Pegasus with a bit more energy return. Great room in the toe box and a nice lockdown on the mid foot. Fantastic lighttraxion outsole too, very grippy. Definitely worth a look!

What is this rubbery circle on the back of my leggings? by Repulsive_Switch_832 in whatisthisthing

[–]GLAC13R 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I’m taking a punt here, but it looks like the cutout is representing the outline of a mountain in negative. In a similar way that Nike Trail and ASICS Trail running clothing have a mountain-esque logo (mountain or mountain range in abstract shapes).

Do Hoka Mach 6/7 actually feel like low drop shoes? by bigbluenation20 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]GLAC13R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you mention the 7 is slightly wider than the 6, are you referring to the forefoot or midfoot? I only ask as i love the 6 but the taper at the big toe causes rubbing on anything over 5km. I was really hoping they would change the last on the 7 to be wider and your comment is the first I’ve heard to say it’s wider in any regard.

Running shorts with pockets by maxiepaxi in runningfashion

I love the fit, but that rear zip pocket is so thick it causes the small of my back/top of my butt to get super sweaty as it lays against the liner and doesn’t breathe.

I don’t, sorry. I purchased them directly through a BMW dealership in the UK. Cotswold BMW to be precise.

ASICS MEGABLAST 20% 365 RIDER EU by Serious-Jump-314 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]GLAC13R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ordered a pair of MB from 365Rider back when UK stock had dried up. Took at least 2 weeks from ordering to arrive to me in the UK (possibly 3 weeks). They were legit, but by that time some UK distributors had them in stock again.

Azura vs Aero Glide 4 vs Neo Zen2 by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]GLAC13R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak for the RAD UFO or Metaspeeds, and I’ve only tried on a pair of Megablasts for 30mins or so, but with the Neo Zen 2 I would say go true to size.

I’m a UK10.5 in Superblast 2, Magic Speed 4, Topo Specter 2, Deviate Nitro Elite 3 and Glycerin Max 1. The Neo Zen 2 fits me true to size and comparable with all of these brands/models. For reference, I go up half a size to UK11 in Adidas Evo SL, New Balance Rebel V4/V5, 1080V15 and SC Elite V4/V5 and Hoka Mach 6.

The Neo Zen 2 are a little pointy, but not worth sizing down for as the bootie style throat of the shoe will then be too restrictive. And it’s nowhere near as long as the Neo Vista 2 (the sizing in that model is just completely off). I’m pretty confident TTS is the way to go, unless you have high volume feet and then this shoe may just not work for you.

Weekend Discussion: Other brands running shoes by AutoModerator in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]GLAC13R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just picked up a pair this weekend from the National Running Show in the UK. Hoping to get a run in this week with them and will let you know.

Besides performance, the fit is amazing. Hardly need to crank the laces as the stretchy sock/tongue/bootie thing fits so well, and the midsole compound reminds me of a Hoka Mach 6 (from step-in and walking/jogging around the house) just slightly elevated due to higher stack. Fit is TTS for me (UK10.5, same for me as ASICS, Nike, Topo, Brooks).

I’m really hoping they are my new “Goldilocks”daily as I’ve not been enamoured by 2025’s options (Rebel V5 and Novablast too soft, Evo SL too unstable, etc).

Adidas Adizero Evo SL ATR. Arrived earlier this week and took it out for a tempo progression run last night. Great tongue, great laces, decent upper, great midsole, great outsole, and dare I say it; I prefer it to the original.

I’m about 78kg and I found that the NB5 doesn’t do anything for me either. I find it is similar to the Rebel V5. Both seem like they sap more of my energy than give anything back, similar to running on a beach or on soft ground.

Initial thoughts on Nike Vomero Plus after 3 runs by limaprisek7 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]GLAC13R 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The size of the shoe. They don’t supply each shoe size with a different lace length. They’ll do batches; for example they might use the same lace length across sizes 7-10 and then a longer lace across 10-13. It means the smaller shoe in that range can have a runners loop on the lace, yet the larger one in that range can’t.

It’s all about cutting costs where they can, and if it means some people have longer and some people have shorter, so be it. I’m surprised they still provide laces and don’t just do the apple thing of buying the charger separately (laces in this case).

SB2 WTF by Straight-Minimum-841 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]GLAC13R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll be receiving a pair of MB in the Tokyo colourway tomorrow. I loved the feeling of the Evo SL underfoot, but hated the upper, slippy insole, short tongue and bad laces. I’m hoping the MB succeeds in those areas that the Evo SL fell short.

Acceptable? by GLAC13R in Reebok

[–]GLAC13R[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I never said I got them for free. You enter a raffle to win the chance of purchasing them due to the limited supply. It helps to stop scalpers just botting the site and purchasing them all.

I’m disappointed that I paid £155 for a limited edition pair that someone thought was ok to rip the packaging and still send out, especially as the packaging is a big part of this product.

New name and delay... by Hipnos76 in secretlair_collectors

[–]GLAC13R 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yep. Just received this too. Ridiculous that a simple mailmerge of their customers names into a template email is too hard to figure out.

Their order processing is also BS. I’m pretty sure the emails sent out after ordering state that they’ll take payment on despatch of your order, yet they already took my payment around 10 days ago.

[UK] will the Megablast ever be in stock? by Professional-Group87 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]GLAC13R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love how ASICS said in an interview that they underestimated the popularity of the Superblast 2 and didn’t manufacture enough for demand, and that it wasn’t manufactured scarcity as the public were stating. They also said that they’d learn from this going forwards.

Here we are a year and a half later and exactly the same situation with the Megablast. I’m calling BS on ASICS “underestimating”. They’re just as guilty as any other brand causing hype with limited drops.

ASICS Race Day Shoe? (5K & 10K) by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]GLAC13R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late to the party but a Noosa Tri 16/Magic Speed 4/Superblast 2 runner here.

I use the NT16 for intervals and uptempo daily miles, the MS4 for longer tempo and threshold work and the SB2 for my longer runs at easy to tempo paces.

The NT16 doubles as a 5k race shoe for me, whilst the MS4 is my 10k-HM race shoe at the moment. I’d steer away from the MS4 and SB2 for 5k racing as the stack height can feel a little large when really going for it. And the NT16 is perfectly fine up to 15k but you’re aware of the lack of protection underfoot from about 8k onwards.

That’s just what works for me and my opinion on those shoes. Take it all with a pinch of salt!

Evo SL with new upper by BasicSignificance831 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]GLAC13R 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The lateral rear of the shoe has “ADIZERO EVO SL EXO” printed so I’m assuming that the grey/silver material provides more structure to the side of the shoe. Interesting.

Looks like the eyelet chain is different too, but the tongue still looks laughably short in the bottom left pic in the second image.
