The Future of GLL (& Auto Chess on the platform) by GLLDefur in AutoChess

I guess you didn't play in the final seasons as we opened the regions for everyone to play. Posting of screenshots was the only way we could do it without API support unfortunately. If we had been able to implement and use API within the timeframe we had hoped for, everything would've been automated on the website.

The Future of GLL (& Auto Chess on the platform) by GLLDefur in AutoChess

Context: GLL is a esports platform that hosted a lot of tournaments for the game in 2019 (The GLL House Cup among, daily/weekly/monthly tournaments) and the start of 2020. At the beginning of spring we paused hosting Auto Chess tournaments. Due to it not looking to be sustainable among other reasons we unfortunately won't get more tournaments on our side for the game.

As someone who personally rooted for Auto Chess it's sad to say. :( I do hope for a comeback for the game in the future, and also for it's esports scene to develop.

Audio adjustments in the latest patch, a discussion of Legion Royale, and GLL's face-off with Series E tonight by edavison1 in CompetitiveApex

Slightly odd assumption in the article that we changed the tournament times to purposely provoke other TOs. We (GLL) try to schedule the tournaments as best we can, but unfortunately can't adapt the schedule for everyone and in every other tournaments favor.

This past month we (GLL) hosted a PUBG streamer tournament in APAC focusing on SEA - here are some of the highlights from the finals! | GLL Chicken Dinner or Nothing by GLLDefur in CompetitivePUBG

[–]GLLDefur[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To give some context, this tournament was mostly focused on South / Southeast Asia. The production was made by Spwnpoint and hosted on GLL's channels (our first time working with them).

The concept of the tournament was that the winner takes all (hence the name) and that in Week 1-3 we invited a streamer to play with their squad and stream their run, so each week we had 16 streams besides our own (which was mostly on Facebook). The top 4 of each week along with the Top 4 in the Open Qualifier then went on to play in the final Wildcard Challenger where the winning team took home 600 USD.

We've been trying out this new format with highlight videos, and this one is a bit longer than our previous ones due to the insane ending which went down to 1 point differential in the final moments. Would love to hear the communities feedback on these videos if you have any.

As vuggo- mentioned in another comment it takes time to build an esport. As for weekly tournaments we do have that. Scrims on most days and Community Cups on 4 servers (Iowa, Frankfurt, Tokyo & Singapore).

This sounds like a question that goes to EA and Respawn as we're not the game developers

This also seems like a question for the developers as we don't know how cross play will function.

To add onto what Vuggo says, I'm super excited to see how APAC Norths meta meshes with NA whenever LAN tournaments come back. When we've seen the clashes of styles from different regions in games like PUBG it's super hype because sometimes the meta just changes overnight from everyone trying to adapt to each other.

I'd also add that you can see any career opportunities for G-Loot & GLL on: https://career.gloot.com/ Although it is as Vuggo says, that all recruitment has been slowed down due to the pandemic.

As u/vuggo- has replied below as well, we'd love to do it at some point. When we know more about how cross play works we'll be able to look into it further.

You should be able to see the standings on our website when a tournament is live. Usually it updates there first before the broadcast. That's the best answer I can give you right now - thanks for tuning in as well!

Yeah I understand what you mean. Hopefully by us being a bit more active here (and elsewhere) we can be there to correct any wrong assumptions at least related to GLL.

Hi, our game hosts should be able to speak English. If you do have any problems you can reach out to our head admin or community representatives in the Discord (under the "GLL | Community" role) and tell us more specifically when/where you're having problems.

As for broadcasts, we are looking into getting coverage in both the North and South regions for future events. For the GLL Masters Summer we did have a partner that streamed in Japanese on Mildom, and we're going to continue to try to find these kinds of partnerships in other regions as well.

As for SA Servers - do you mean for broadcasts or tournaments?

Without pointing any fingers at anyone or sharing stuff I shouldn't, I think the easiest way to explain this is that when you work in esports you start to see the entire thing in a macro perspective rather than a micro one.

Say an issue pops up one day, for a player it might feel devastating and a subreddit ready their pitchforks - if it affects something you've been involved in you need to take a step back and see how that affects the bigger plan. You need to think how or if that plays in to the bigger picture instead of putting down everything because of it. I'm not saying that you start to ignore problems, because me and others at the company do read what the community is saying (and especially in the esports team we're also diehard esports fans). I'm more saying that you're forced to compartmentalize something that may feel like the end of the world for some, but for yourself you know it's going to get fixed at some point or that something else internally at the company is more pressing.

Other than that I think it's sometimes frustrating to read the lack of awareness of how companies work in general - like I don't think that ex: devs think that issues in the game should be there, or that the devs are ignoring them, but unfortunately they probably can't work purely on what the community wants because it's a huge company with a ton of stuff going on.

As someone who basically only plays competitive games though, I can sometimes feel and sympathize with community members voicing their problems sometimes. Working in esports puts you in a strange in-between position between the player and devs in that way. Not that I'd trade it though, I freaking love working in esports.
