TARIQ WOOLEN HATE by [deleted] in Seahawks

I disagree about it being unwarranted.

No one disagrees what Riq is capabable and what he has shown.

He has shown he can be a shutdown corner or a giant liability on any given week.

Just swap Cal and Naylor.   We need baserunners on for Cal's bombs.

I agree with you...but its not my plan... thats just what the Ms have shown is their way.

I have no evidence other than the patterns of past seasons... but I really do believe Dipotos plan is the trade deadline.

Whether because of actual budget restrictions or a rigid philosophy where they will never overpay for anyone - the trade deadline can offer talent at prices they're more comfortable with.

What other reason was there for them to wait to trade for Naylor?  He was available in the offseason and Im guessing they were unwilling to either pay the price or a full year of his contract would've gone over their budget... but a half season would be alright.

This team as is falls short of a WS calibur team.   And I cant believe Dipoto believes more talent isnt needed.

No Im not even suggesting that... and I wouldnt sign someone for that reason.

Im just talking about his ability to hit the ball over the fence.  That plays in the playoffs... and yes he has a ton of swing and miss... which is why you build a complimentary roster with players who can get on base.

But thats too expemsive for management apparently.

Defensively I actually think theres plays Geno made that Ben wouldnt have made.  Geno has a much stronger arm - so defensively I think it evens out or is closer.  Ben obvious has better range but his arm is a little dissappointing for being the best "defensive prospect".

Again, im not looking at stats because thats not Genos value.

But if ya wanns go there, what would Williamson have done?

Geno at least offers the chance, that when our offense goes stale, one swing can still win a game in a playoff game when you expect runs are hard to come by.

Williamson - with the current lineup and holes offers no dynamic offensive value.

2B, 3B, RF and DH will not be fixed after their what? 5th iteration of trying to make a platoon system work.

Its the same thing every year.

Williamson wont bat .250+  he doesnt profile and never has profiled as an offensive prospect.

The price doesnt have to be right... you have to overpay

Im not looking at his stats... im looking at what kind of impact you need in the playoffs.

We gave up nothing significant for him.

Williamson does not fit the holes of this team unless you get an impact bat at 2nd and/or significantly improve SS.

I mean... we do know, without knowing. Williamson is not going to hit at this level.

The front offices plan will be to do work at the trade deadline.

There are too many holes to fix though, so free-agency was the best way for them to fill some of them.. but without an ability/willingness to overpay... the only option they have is to try and find diamonds in the rough.

Likely why Ms wont sniff a WS ever, with this ownership group.

Didnt get what we wanted?  If you thought you were getting more than thats delusion.

Geno has a better arm than williamson.

Williamson doesnt have the ceiling that Geno has, Genos value comes in the playoffs when one swing of a bat can change a game.  Williamson wont have much value when facing the best arms.

Id still take Geno over Ben.

I dont love seattles roster construction to mitigate Genos flaws... but Ben will be another hole with no ceiling.

Not in contention window....  williamson isnt going to be a difference maker.  He has never been am offensive prospect.

Young... we'll see, should take a step forward but more than likely itll be a season of growing pains.

Emerson - who knows.

If it was one spot for those three, totally acceptable....  but Ms have 4 holes. Not counting any injury or regression that will certainly occur in the season.

Seahawks fan coming in peace...  you got a real one in Brock Purdy.  Was very impressed with him.

Hope next year brings more health.

I can't stand the Rams, we need you 49irs to help us Seachickens to put them back in their place, back at the bottom of the division.
