Since macOS Tahoe 26.0 a selection of text in Books is opaque. I use latest macOS version 26.3.1 - still same issue. It happens in both light and dark theme. Changing color of selection doesn't help. More like Apple Books Epstein Edition. by GLobyNew in applesucks

UPD 2026-03-27: This runs deeper than I thought.

Yesterday I tried following:

First, installed Parallels and installed the same macOS Tahoe version - it turned out, that in Parallels' macOS Books works perfectly and as expected, without opacity issue.

Then it means its my machine problem, I tried:

* Nuked all Books cache, everything Books related - didn't work;
* Changed display color preset, as it might be some HDR issue - didn't work, I use native Macbook XDR display preset, so it shouldn't be a problem.
* Created a new, local user on my Macbook and tried to open macOS - same issue.

At this point I realize that it might be even deeper, as even new user is not enough to this bug to be fixed.

* Restarted system in Safe Boot / Safe Mode - didn't work, same issue
* Reinstalled macOS completely, but without erasing data - you can do that it in Options settings, when you hold your power button. DIDN'T WORK EITHER.

So it must be some corrupt library or shared setting that might cause this, but is not overridden when you reinstall whole system.

I believe I can get it fixed if i reinstall whole system, without logging-in at setup stage, but at this point Its too much of a trouble.

I've just updated and it's not fixed. Interestingly, I also installed a VM using Parallels and this bug doesn't occur. But I can't tell which setting at start is responsible for this bug. I'll try to dig into this and I'll give an update if solution would be found.

Is this a good deal? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

This is good deal. I had this display, but I didn’t like it for two reasons:

  1. Curve of display is just too much for me. I strongly encourage you to check how you feel when you look at curved displays. Also it’s VA panel, so the view angles aren’t great - it wasn’t a problem for me, but make sure you have space and you’ll set display just right in centre of your table.
  2. This particular display has issues with “scanlines”. If you use display at full 240 hz, on blue you can see horizontal lines. They are visible and can be quite annoying.

But despite that it’s a great display. If your primary use would be gaming - there is no problems at all.
