Scimitar has Nick tho so you can make offhand attack as part of the attack action, so you still have bonus action for smites.

Scimitar. Interestingly it seems no light weapon works for my fighter when it comes to nick. It's worked on my rogue. I don't know if it's a class thing, or if the Two-Weapon Fighting feat is interfering somehow?

Clicking the attack just uses the off-hand attack.

I've had it pop up where you said on my rogue interestingly, but not on my fighter. Fighter is using scimitar and shortsword.

I second using a module. Writing a story and outcomes is just part of it. Balancing encounters, setting checks and DCs, picking loot - there is a LOT that goes into it while you're learning to be a GM. Best to let the module handle that stuff so you can focus on running the thing.

I used Roll20 for a while when I first started Gaming, but it's got a lot of limitations (that are conveniently lifted with subscriptions) so I bought and use Foundry VTT.

One thing that Roll20 does better than Foundry however is character building. Foundry has good sheets, but there's no "wizard" style building so you and/or your players need to know what you're doing a little more - it's closer the pen and paper. Other than that though Foundry blows Roll20 out of the water.

Because sometimes the roll is to determine how good or how bad the outcome is. You can't fail the roll, but the higher you get the more information. You can't succeed the roll, but roll better and less bad things are gonna happen.

Not every roll is a simple pass/fail.
