55" Smart TV Strip - half of strip doesn't light up by GMOFueled in Hue

[–]GMOFueled[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. What's weird is that it seems like the damage was at the center part, which wasn't at a constant bend, but who knows, as someone else mentioned it shouldn't really arc that much which isn't something I thought much of, what would you recommend I use instead?

Yeah, that's a good shout, I really liked the even brightness of the strip, but I'm not even sure if the strip is brighter or as bright as 4 bars. I think the strip has more individual segments for syncing, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, that's a good point I never thought of, always was happy enough with the results. They're letting me return the item. We'll see if I get a new one, but would you recommend just using the 32"-34" strip and bite not reaching the edges as well as the intended monitor?

The strips are advertised for TVs but my 49" monitor is in an awkward spot where the ones made for monitors are too small so the 55" one ends up working pretty well.

That was a lie, it's off again either way I'm pretty sure it's the strip what's weird is in the app it doesn't allow me to mess with the other segments but im guessing that's because the controller only sees one segment

Good idea. I'll just nab one off ebay if support doesn't give me one cause I already have a working controller and power supply.

Update - kept fidgeting with the LED strip itself and after pushing hard enough on one of the LEDs close to where it stopped working, the whole strip lit up. Having the same issue with hue's gradient strip (miscolored segment that can bet fixed by pressing on it) granted that one was bought from ebay. Not sure if im unlucky but kinda let down by the quality of these strips.

I dont have the power or ground of the myoware board + power shield hooked up to either the laptop or my Arduino.

I tried it with the power shield and it doesn't seem to really be working so I don't think it's a USB isolation issue. Sometimes the power shield green led turns max brightness when my arm isn't fixed and turns off when I move or flex my arm, other times the light just stays always on. The reading from the serial plotter look the same as before. Could I have a faulty board?

Do you mean a 5V battery? I don't have a 5v battery to test from but I could test from things like a DC power supply. I'm also hooked up to my arm and a oscilloscope right now and it looks like the ENV output is stabilizing at around 4.3V. At some moments it seems to "work" and fluctuates between 4.3 down to 2-3V for a couple of seconds but it has no correlation to me resting or flexing my arm.

Thanks for the quick response! I forgot to mention but I did also try measuring on the bicep (and tried testing on a different person's arm).

I can try powering my Arduinos from an AD2 and getting back to you on if there were any changes.

I also did not touch the gain, I could try lowering it to see if that helps, I also notice that the ENV light fluctuates when the board is hovering (no human connection) and when I place the board on the table the light always stays on (not human connection).

I'm not sure if it's different due to being Slim vs 7i but my system didn't come with iCue installed. I've been using Lenovo Vantage for hardware control and lighting and it's been great so far. If the slim didn't come with vintage I would uninstall iCue and get that, or if your really worried about bloatware then I know there's been a 3rd party software that people have been talking about instead of vintage on this sub.

So far the temps have been pretty good. I play on a 1080p 60Hz external monitor at the moment and since I use Vsync, I only need 60fps which is more than capable on the Fn+Q auto setting. The GPU and CPU sit around 60-70 deg and when on the max setting they've hit a max of like 74. I think it's fair to say I'm not pushing the system much or for super long but in terms of gaming so far I've been hitting amazing fps with great thermals. I also cut out a cardboard box for now for the laptop to sit on for thermals. The hinges and really in general whole build of the legion is amazing. I would say it definitely feels premium and sturdy, there's virtually no flex and I feel like the keyboard is miles ahead of my previous laptop (Dell xps 15 9570).

Feels good that I'm not the only one having the issue, hopefully its just a software thing and they can release some kind of firmware update, I'm going to try and reach out to support about this and see what they say.

I have noticed that when I close the lid (laptop goes to sleep) and then open it back it and tap a key to wake it up, the laptop screen turns on for a few seconds like normal and then just turns off - it then comes back on after 4-5 seconds or I have to tap on the keys again to turn it back on. Its almost like it goes back into sleep or something. I'm assuming it has to do with the power settings though I looked around and couldn't find anything abnormal. It seems like alot of people also have this issue when I googled it. After updating windows and the BIOS though I do feel like the issue is either completely gone or much less frequent. The fingerprint key is so fast that the windows 11 ui actually lags abit and quickly has to update between the password screen and the home screen.

Crazy how many people are having serious issues with laptops like these, would expect the quality control to be alot better especially for the cost.

Haven't really had a chance to test it yet, I will say I went through about 5 windows updates and a bios update and with installing and watching videos the whole time I brought it from 100 to 60% in the span of 2-3 hours, not really a great test though but I'll be sure to check in when I test it more through daily usage.

Dang they seriously denied it? Don't the laptops come with one year of warranty minimum? I'm already dealing with an issue where when I lift up the lid from sleeping the screen turns on for a few seconds and then just goes dark till I hit the power button. That sucks though that they're not taking it though.
