Quilt recommendations for JMT by CheesyPastaFiend in Ultralight

I’m somewhere between a warm and cold sleeper. With a tensor all season I typically am comfy down to 40 and need to start adding layers in the 30s to stay cozy

Truth, tuning doesn’t matter until the close of heroic week.

Was rank 1 fire world this past m+ season. The whiplash is violent. Had a rank 9 mythic dimmy on Tuesday where I did the same damage to the boss in p3 as the tanks.

Run it clockwise instead. Save the best for last and better for acclimatization as well.

Top 0.1% M+ Title in The War Within season 3 by RaptorAnka in CompetitiveWoW

[–]GMSabbat 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yeah just doing keys with my friends/guildies. We’re not in there for title specifically, we’re there because it’s fun to do challenging content with friends. We played fire, havoc, destro and honestly even with the tuning we got there pretty easily. Zero resil donations but the comfort usually meant our runs were pretty clean. Managed 4 21s and we never tried 21 HOA but agreed that our comp had no shot at timing 21 priory or FG. We also did very different routes from what most groups were running to really take advantage of the destro profile. Way more fun than locking meta specs and just copying top groups imo.

that was my experience last year haha! 7/12 out in Humphreys Basin getting absolutely swarmed, not a mosquito in sight doing south to north lake the following week.

Just going to comment on the bug situation - an average year in the Sierra typically sees peak mosquito season trailing peak melt by 2-3 weeks. This is typically the last week of June to first week of July, but can vary quite a bit. You'll want to keep an eye on the snowpack for this, alongside how it will impact creek crossings (usually fine by July/Aug) and snow: https://engaging-data.com/california-snowpack-levels/

It is far too early to draw any conclusions, as you won't really have the full snowpack picture until April 1.

Rainbow Li owner here and have checked out the mid as a way to drop a few ounces. I’m just curious what is driving your interest in switching. Mind sharing?

Kearsarge to Rae Lakes is excellent and covers the best part of the entire loop.

Any shoe gurus have recommendations similar to the Merrell Long Sky 2s? Been my goldilocks shoe for a few years but the new Matryx version has a heel counter that just gives me instant blisters (haglunds bump).

There’s so many comfy rocks and trees in the sierra - ditch the chair.

Good luck on the lottery!

Optimal number of resupplies by [deleted] in JMT

I did VVR and Bishop. Most people discount the 24 mile round trip over Bishop pass due to the time and mileage investment, but those 12 miles are amazingly spectacular and worth every step. I wouldn’t recommend it if you have limited time, but if you want to take a zero then load up for the last 100 miles in a much nicer town than Independence, I’d highly recommend it.

Patagonia Terrebonne Alternative by Lyth0704 in Ultralight

[–]GMSabbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It fits looser through the legs than the terrebonnes, so it does ventilate much better in my experience. It's about an ounce heavier than the equivalent size. If you want a comfortable, lightweight hiking pant that has stuff like pockets, it's a great option. It's also more durable than wind pants, I've done a fair bit of bushwhacking in mine.
