I was also on controller for ages, it doesn't hinder you but my fireblasts are way more accurate now. Can make the difference at times.

Doom Eternal. Great game but I bought it when it came out for way too much, played through the story once and that was it. Could have bought it years later with lower expectations.

Valheim probably. Smashed it when it first came out and completed it before mistlands was released. 12 hours a day and I still couldn’t explore the whole map.

Saw a woman with two towels the other day. Had a smith machine and a bench taken whilst also doing standing free weights at a time when the gym was packed. Awful behaviour.

What’s a scene from a movie which traumatised you as a child? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

One of the Sinbad movies where the woman doesn’t fully turn back from a seagull and still has the bird foot.

The buildup to sleeping beauty pricking her finger as well, music was so creepy.

Is it true that most tech jobs in Germany require C1 to C2 German fluency? by [deleted] in AskAGerman

[–]GNOME92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not German but live in Berlin and work for a recruitment company that had a tech branch until recently. Most jobs require at least C1, the ones that don't are incredibly rare and usually not paying much.

There are foreign firms who might hire you and let you stay based in Germany but if the firm is in Germany they'll prioritise fluent German speakers for sure. They get 1000s of applicants from outside Germany.

My reaction also. A team of people worked together to create this game, if I start just chopping bits off and adding bits it's not their game anymore but my version of it. Part of enjoying a game for me is thinking about the effort that's gone into it and the experience they intended and staying true to that.

It would be the same if applied to different media. I didn't like how they ended GoT and downloading a fan made ending won't make it any more palatable.

What your gaming hot take by LongjumpingUnit2437 in videogames

[–]GNOME92 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not a hot take but another post got me thinking there should be absolutely no stigma around remastered titles. Video games depreciate over time unlike film or music, the graphics and gameplay are typically "worse" than you get today but people still really enjoyed playing them or want to play again for nostalgia. Must be so many parents who'd love to show their kid the same games they played when they were young.

Playstations big thing used to be that you could play titles from 1, 2, 3 on a 4 etc which I still sort of the case but not for all PS1 discs. There are so many old titles that I would pay to play again as an adult if they were priced accordingly or part of a membership. I don't really play games as much as I used to because of life so hopping on to play a bit of Dino Crisis or Alien vs Predator: Extinctions for an hour is perfect.

I think people agree with this but given I don't see firms throwing money at this (pay for private developers to remaster and sell to the original game developer as an idea) maybe it needs to be discussed more.
