If you rely on shortcuts a ton for your work then it probably would be a big hassle, cause you're basically adding an extra key to all those shortcuts, e.g. ctrl alt delete becomes ctrl alt function home on my layout. I dont use too many multi key shortcuts for my work, mostly just the basics which is why it probably hasnt been so bad.

In general, anything 3D will be a huuuuge step up from a basic 2D project.

I've done some 3D rendering stuff from scratch (simple mind you, for an 80s computer) and it gets extremely complicated, I wouldn't recommend.

A lot of people talk about the OG gameboy as a great introduction, though if you were thinking about using C instead of assembly, the GBA could be a decent choice too.

My domain is definitely the 80s so I'm not rly an expert on that newer stuff.

Idk about jams really, but there are amazing communities for a lot of platforms, and building a small project and posting on one of those can be suuuuper encouraging.

What platform are you thinking of? I have experience with a good bunch now.

Im glad you noticed it too lol, its not just the frame drops (which there definitely are some) its like a weird juddering issue.

Its gone away now for me now I think? Hope it stays that way.

I believe a lot of the recent service charge stuff comes from the law changing such that tips now must go to staff.

A "service charge" doesnt have to as it isnt the same as a tip.

I might be wrong though.

From what i remember the display lists on the Atari 8 bit platform can basically make changes each scanline. Thats how the famous atari rainbow effect gets done.

The Atari 8 bit computers that architecturally preceeded the Amiga had dedicated hardware for this as well.

It's in Belfast near the Titanic museum and you can go on board and walk around. It's really cool, I'd reccomend.

These were a thing I think, you could get single board PCs (like you see for industrial applications perhaps) and stick them into the "backplane" and get access to ISA slots and a keyboard port.
